DESCRIPTION
Simgua is a powerful modeling tool similar to VenSim, PowerSim or STELLA that can solve complex simulation problems with surprising ease. Simgua's foundation is an intuitive flow and stock principle. Stocks - or reservoirs - of some material are connected by a series of flows. The stocks can contain any material - water, air, dollars, or even chickens - and the quantity of the flows are specified by the user using mathematical equations or formulas. This seemingly simple base can be used to model incredibly complex systems including the following:

Environmental Models:

  • Water and Wastewater Treatment
  • Air Treatment
  • Pollutant Transport
  • Ecological Models
Other Models:
  • Models of Industrial Processes
  • Economical Models
  • Demographic Models
WHAT'S NEW
Version 3.4.6.1464:
  • Added Max, Min, Mean, Median, and StdDev functions to analyze past primitive values
  • Added a Months time unit
  • Extended Rand function with optional maximum and minimum bounds
  • Extended the Pulse function with a repeat option
  • Added a function to generate exponentially distributed random numbers
  • Added a single line IfThenElse function
  • Improved the display of infinite numbers and charts containing them
  • Improved Windows compatibility and interface appearance
  • Stability enhancements and other minor feature additions

DYLAN MCNAMEE  I like Simgua quite a bit. A few months ago I bought the educational version to teach myself system dynamics in order to do some volunteer teaching at my children's elementary school. The documentation is good - gets you going from scratch, and gives a decent introduction to system dynamics overall. The interface is a bit clunky - the graphical view is for display-only -- editing is not WYSWIG, but it works fine. Updates are coming regularly, and each one adds powerful analyses or features. The educational price is very good. Since I haven't used STELLA, I don't know how the features compare, but the full price of STELLA is over twice that of Simgua.

ZOZETTE  Simulation tool for so called system dynamics problems.

Simgua is not so easy to use. You cannot interact graphically with flow, stock and links icons... Compare with STELLA or MADONNA.

Simulation is slooooow (try Runge Kutta 4th order).

No ps or eps or pdf graphics. It's not serious!

The only choice to export results is Excel but the resulting .xls file makes open office hang.

Simgua crashes continually. Amateurish work.

$860.0: is this price a joke!
