Macintosh Software Search: Try our fast new search technology
|
DESCRIPTION
Pillage is a GUI controller for CDParanoia (running within Terminal), to rip CDs securely. After you rip the CDs with Pillage, Pillage imports the files to iTunes, where it automatically tags each file with proper track information. If you have used other CDParanoia related apps on OS X, and they did not work for you, try this one. That's why I wrote it. :) Please note that there is nothing about Pillage that supports or uses mp3 technology. Pillage seems to be misfiled on Macupdate. Just an FYI...
WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.02: Additional English specific calls were removed. Also, calling the "CDParanoia" application uses a full path (/usr/local/bin/cdparanoia), instead of just typing "cdparanoia" at the prompt, to work more universally with alternate Terminal settings.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later, iTunes 7.2 or later, CDParanoia binary installed, links at the Pillage page.

OSSIE  Sorry. I had missed the go to AIFF part. So, until Max can write those AIFF tags this app does fill a very narrow niche. But why use AIFF in the first place? Why not Apple Lossless?  (Version 1.01)

CDBOY  I tried both Max and xact. Neither of them wrote the tags well in the AIFF ripped files. Sometimes the tags would stay, and sometimes you would double click a file in iTunes, and it would revert back to the filename. This program, since it is using iTunes to write the tags, does that well.

It would be nice if Pillage wasn't dependent on other apps, but it does the job it says.   (Version 1.01)

    *....

OSSIE  I do not understand the purpose of this app's existence. Mac users have *two* (not just the one Pillage's documents refer to) apps that are more useful, flexible, easier to use (much less setup!). And most importantly, they ARE FREE, their developers denying urgings to take money. These guys want $10 for something less than either of the two longstanding, venerable apps: xACT and Max.  (Version 1.01)

XYPHER  Now all we need is a wrapper for EAC.  (Version 1.0)
