DESCRIPTION
Papaya is a web server dedicated to sharing your files with others. Sharing files is now incredibly quick and easy! It's a matter of dragging files to Papaya's dock icon, or the library list. The web address for downloading the file is copied automatically, ready for pasting into an e-mail or instant message.

Papaya acts as a web server, sharing files through the HTTP protocol. This means that anyone with a web browser can download your files—no special software is needed on the receiving end.

  • Fixed a bug where the activity log would sometimes not work
  • Fixed a bug where problems could occur when moving items in password-protected folders

GCOGHILL  No help files for this app, and nothing on the developer website. Setup assistant tells me I need ports 8080 open, and then a warning comes up that port 6900 is not open. Which one is it?

FLASH1296  This (version 1.0.3) update created a small (cosmetic) problem for me. On Safari the icons are not displayed.

    ***..

FLASH1296  This application is very easy to use. Simplicity is its sole strength though. It needs more features. The Web Page that it creates is completely bare-bones-- e.g. Items cannot be sorted. There is no search function for those downloading a file. There is no way to mod' the page, etc.

While it works as advertised, it is seriously over-priced. If sufficiently improved, perhaps with the addition of logging file transfers, adding two-way file transfers, etc. I will purchase it.

To me it is very much a "work-in-progress"

PATOCHE  Thanks Papaya you did what I was searching for... and in a simple way.

I tested v.1 and was not able to configure the ports...this new version did it for me.

I love to be on a Mac only for such apps.

    Give it a try...

PISSNAROUND  Hi, I want to try this out however I can't seem to configure my Verizon FIOS router to work with this. I need to know what I have to change:port forwarding, DMZ etc.

    thanks

FLASH1296  You say: "Can I do something to fix it?"

I think that all you need to do is use the "port forwarding" option with you router; though turning on "DMZ" may be required too.

ROSENKRIEGER   Just tried this out and I am almost ready to purchase a license.

I configured my ports manually, because Papaya couldn't do it for me ( no biggie ). So I passed the server status test.

BUT for some reason it only takes my local IP adress, even if I set it to take my external IP adress. So I am unable to share to a chat friend of mine.

Is this a bug? Can I do something to fix it?

This seems like a REALLY REALLY superb quick share app ( and Apple is gonna hate you for making sharing iTunes music such an easy task hehe )

MARK.ANDERSON  Wow, this software is slicker than snot on a glass doorknob.

Works as advertised, very fast & easy. Time to buy a license.

One thing I'd like to see is a "watched folder" feature that would post files automatically when dropped in a hot folder.
