Narcolepsy is a script to "encourage" your Mac to sleep when idle. It's useful if your computer doesn't seem to obey the sleep setting in Energy Saver; Narcolepsy will put your computer to sleep when Energy Saver should! It will sleep after the amount of time set in Energy Saver, making adjustments easy. It is also designed to not sleep if iTunes is playing, if DVD Player is open, or if EyeTV is playing or recording (times when the computer might be "idle," but you are still using it). You can modify the script to remove these or add your own conditions to prevent sleeping.
DA5ID Works great. It solved my problem of a narcoleptic nonsleeping Macbook Pro.
The program is easy to modify. If you want to, for example, exclude EyeTV from the program, or add your own program (like VLC), it's as simple as deleting text, or copy/paste. (Version 1.0)
HOMER87 I have been having trouble with my MBP not sleeping properly, so the product does the job it was written for. Sometimes when I'm using the MBP I forget to "force quit" in the Activity Monitor and the machine goes to sleep. My only suggestion might be to add "any mouse movement" to the list forcing the MBP to stay awake. I also use Slingbox a lot and unfortunately the machine shuts off if I forget to quit Narcolepsy. I mainly use iTunes when I have Narcolepsy activated, so it works as advertised. I am not really into Applescript or I would do it myself, but I think adding mouse (cursor) movement to the list would be helpful. This is an excellent program if you are having a sleep issue with a Mac., and I assume with future versions the suggestions may be added. Thank you developer. (Version 1.0)
REM SOFTWARE The script should account for mouse movement, and prevent sleep if the mouse is moved. I'll try to post any further information here; if anybody else experiences a similar problem, let us know via E-mail! (Version 1.0)
