DESCRIPTION
Skitch allows you to take screenshots on your Mac, edit them and share them with others. It makes the sharing process seamless by making it a natural workflow to send the image (with edited arrows and other highlights helpful to your client) to them via email or automatic website uploads. It is especially popular with the designer community, as they show their clients rough drafts of their work in a nearly automated process. It makes it simple to work remotely with someone and pass on work revisions and get feedback quickly. Other uses include:
  • Snap a website
  • Capture a chat moment
  • Screenshot an application
  • iSight snap your bad hair day
  • Quickly sketch an idea
  • Tap into your iPhoto Library
  • Re-open images from your Skitch History
WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.0b7:

Enhancements

  • New preference item: 'Show on all Spaces' that is checked as default. Forces Skitch to appear in every Spaces' space
  • The size of the screenshot (in pixels) is now shown when taking a 'Crosshair Snapshot'
  • When importing images with an alpha channel the background is automatically set to transparent
  • During a 'Frame Snapshot', holding shift now resizes the frame proportionally
  • Auto selects .jpg as the export setting when you choose the .jpg quality
  • 'Background Color to Transparent' added to the Skitch Toolbox menu
  • 'Snap Skitch itself' added to the Skitch Toolbox menu
  • When using 'Skitch it back' on Skitch.com, now no need to change Webpost account before pressing 'Skitch it back'

Bug Fixes

  • When on History or other Preference tabs, the entire Skitch frame is grab-able for window repositioning
  • Improved reliability for Entourage users when 'Mail this Image...' is used
  • Improved Undo interaction after a 'Fullscreen Snapshot'
  • No longer able to type during a Camera Snap - which would sometimes lead to unexpected behavior
  • Webpost Menu changes relating to 'Skitch it back!' service
  • Image file names with percentage signs (%) when uploading to some servers no longer causes the URL to fail
  • Now remains hidden (Command-H) when a 'Crosshair Snapshot' is invoked using keyboard shortcut
  • In 'History' the filter bars have been renamed to reflect previous Skitch changes
  • References to 'Alt' have been replaced with 'Option' in the Tooltip overlays
  • Now able to use 1 x 1 pixel images without unexpected results
  • Tooltip instructions have been fixed for the Camera Snap
  • Correction to the Help file

DAVID COFFIN  Resisted this for a while because I already had a similar app that seemed fine (and that I'd paid for), and at first glance, Skitch seemed overly complex and confusing. Finally took a breath and a slower, closer look and fell in LOVE. In fact, I have 4 other screen-shooting apps I've paid for over the years, but Skitch is the one I use daily and recommend to friends. This is really an exceptional, never-crashed-once creation already filled with great features and lots of polished nooks and crannies. Beta? I'm totally looking forward to paying to own this. Thank you, plasq!

RAE  Good work!

Really an interesting app, good enough for some fun... Very easy to use and like the idea of an introduction clip... Also like the functions of this app to edit the images, resize and the "drag me" that allows me to drag the edited image to any where.

For those who shares images online or blogging, the app certainly attracts more.

For the purpose of complete screen shots and advance usage, Snapz Pro prevails...

JIMULEDA  Plasq + Skitch = Love.

i've been aboard the Plasq-train for several years, or so it seems, starting with ComicLife and an early adoption of Skitch. there is not a single day of my digital-experience that does not include one or both of these useful products. from email, to student i.d. badge creation, to Wordle.com captures, to passing silly notes to my co-workers...'nuff said.

ROSENKRIEGER  This is another of my "must-have-apps". I have been enjoying Skitch for quite some time now and I must say I have integrated it into many of my workflows because its simply, powerful and does what it says!

Love it and would not want to use a Mac without it.

ROY VAN DER WONING  So you will actually sell/closet/torch your Mac if the developer decides to discontinue this product and the beta expires?

Gotta love those superlatives in reviews. :-)

LEV  This is a VERY annoying app to review because I can't think of anything to complain about. It does what it says it does, elegantly and quickly. It's also in an odd way quite witty -- you'll see what I mean if you try it. It's already changed my workflow for web posting of images, which is a fair indication of just how good it is.

Superb.
