Robbie the Robot... Ever wanted to have a conversation, vocally, with a machine? Now you can! Robbie the Robot is a computer program for Mac OS 10.5 designed by Erin Kennedy in Grade 11. This computer program demonstrates a human-machine conversation using speech synthesis and natural language processing. With the use of language models and pre-programmed responses, Robbie has the ability to converse for a long time, while being able to reflect on past responses, then slowly transition into new sub-conversations. Furthermore, it’s character appearance is animated when speaking.

    MACSWEEP  This is PPC only! I say this because it will not operate on my MacBook Pro. Mac OS 10.5.6

    SICA  on my powerbook g4, Robbie keeps telling me:

    "SORRY, I do not understand anything you say ...",

    which is very annoying at the very beginning of a new experience.

    Robbie's answer to

    "Hi!"

    is a 28-words explanation about ...

    ... HOW he COULD NOT understand longer sentences (thanks to developer's tolerance for impaired devices).
