DESCRIPTION

The OpenThesaurus German Dictionary Plugin (formerly Thesaurus Deutsch) extends Apple's Dictionary application (Dictionary.app) with a German thesaurus.

  • You can search for every synonym not just the primary word.
  • You can search for parts of a hyphen delimited term or a word which is not located at the beginning of a term (as Dictionary normally does).
  • This is a offline dictionary, so you don't need an internet connection.

The dictionary content is based on the online dictionary www.openthesaurus.de by Daniel Naber.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 09.03.20:
  • Similar entries are now merged into one entry (eg. “entwickeln”) so the Dashboard Widget is also be able to display all hits at once. The entry count is reduced due to the merging.
  • After (un)installing the Dashboard will be reloaded so that the Dictionary Widget will notice the changes.
  • Updated the dictionary content to the OpenThesaurus database from 2009-03-19 with 50330 entries (old counting: 63662).
Version 08.12.19:
  • Updated the dictionary content to the OpenThesaurus database from 2008-12-18 with 61936 entries
  • After installation the plugin will automatically be activated in the dictionary preferences
Version 08.12.18:
  • Updated the dictionary content to the OpenThesaurus database from 2008-12-17
  • Fixed the installation procedure for automatically renamed downloads

AEPP  Such a great plug-in! Just an add-on to the standard dictionary and not a separate application. Hopefully the GE-EN Dictionary will get an update soon as well.

SJK  Archive appears to be damaged. Archive Utility extracts a .cpgz file. bunzip2 extracts a .dmg with a "trailing garbage after EOF ignored" warning; opening it won't find a filesystem.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  remove the .bz2 suffix from the downloaded file and the .dmg will mount

SJK  That worked -- thanks. I'd only tried removing the .cpgz extension after Archive Utility had extracted that file.

TEKL  I hope the MacUpdate Admin will add

AddType application/x-apple-diskimage .dmg

to the server configuration or their referer script, as this will fix the problem.

ACIES  I'm sorry to be dense, but I've no idea how to install this. When I download the plugin with Camino, I get a "simple text file."

Is there something wrong?

TEKL  Try to rename it to anything.zip so you can double-click the archive. If Camino want to display the file itself try downloading via the context menu.

ACIES  I'm sorry to have troubled you. It downloaded perfectly with Safari, if not Camino, and installed just as it should.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  The latest upload of Thesaurus is still no good. It still makes Safari load a page of code instead of downloading normally. Why not make it a .zip archive?
