TUXFORD  After more than a year of development, the developer seems to have overcome numerous limitations with current Apple iSync deployments, to give businesses like ours a great tool for sharing contacts among our staff. While not easy, we are grateful and supportive as this tool is essential to our business. Currently working together with Kerio sync and Plaxo online for offsite solution too.

Important to take care with initial deployment. Back up contacts and test. We limit syncs to On Demand, rather that On Changes. OS 10.4. If you need this, time to get on board. No need to wait further for an Apple solution.

ENYOX  I have tried SyncTogether from Mark/Space and even Directory from Mac OS X Server 10.5 but none of those really did what I needed. And because I donīt wanted to pay for .mac or similar services and even more donīt want that my contact data is stored somewhere else Iīm very happy that I found Address Book Server. I installed the release from April 6th on Mac OS X Server 10.5.2 and itīworks great for me. Syncronization is very fast and even works with mixed Tiger and Leopard clients. The developerīs reaction time on support requests is super fast and he seems very ambitious to make the program even better. There is a free evaluation licence avaliable for 2 clients to test itīs functionality...

TKT2RDE  Based on review, I purchased and also installed on Leopard Server 10.5.2, however I cannot seem to get it to license the server. It appears that you do this via the client, but it is not clear. This is probably a good product, but the documentation leaves a lot to be desired. The quality of the support is yet to be determined... I submitted my issue this morning.

LOSTINSPACE2011  I have received a number of requests today. It would have been easier if you put your name your submission.

Before enabling the client you need to discover the ABS Server (via Bonjour) and install the server and client license. This has recently been updated, and the manual hasn't caught you yet. This will be addressed shortly.

Support for ABS is available on the website (http://www.addressbookserver.com/support/) as well as via email (info AT addressbookserver DOT com) and via iChat. The Online / Offline button on the website links directly to support if it is online.

    Hope this helps

MREHAB  Installed ABS the December 2007 & March 2008 builds on a Mac Mini running Leopard Server.

ABS Dec build disabled file sharing. ABS Mar build disabled iCal server. The Dec ABS and client build shares AB contacts. I did NOT test ABS sharing with Mar build because of iCal server issue. Uninstalling ABS restored affected services.

ABS has promise, but should not disable features. Client uninstall is easy. Server uninstall, requiring unix command line knowledge, should be re-written to parallel client uninstall ease. Support only via email. ABS seems to function and beta testing should continue. I cannot, though, recommend ABS as a finished solution at this moment.
