DHESS01  Nice idea. However, doesn't appear change drive speed with a DVD; only Audio CD. OSX Leopard v10.5.6, 2x Sony DVD RW DW-D150A.

HANASHRA  Hi, would like to have support of the Pioneer Superdrive DVR-K06 Firmware Q617, which was delivered with my Mac Mini. Sadfully, there are no different Speeds detected.

    :(

BROCK SAMSON  Does slowing the rotational speed down affect the read/write performance of my optical drive?

GEORG WACKER  Yes it does, at the lowest setting your drive will be working at 1x transfer speed, in most cases that is enough for audio-cds or dvds. If you get lost frames in video, simply give it a bit more speed.

However, if you want to copy some files from a backup-dvd you should deactivate DiscRotate temporarily.

For even easier drive settings a menu status item will be featured in version 0.3

DAN FRIML  Works great on my MBP! Thanks for this, now I can listen to my CDs without copying them to computer first.

I have just one feature request.. A Menubar item (with some nice icon) to set the drive speed even easier.

    Donation is on the way!

BOB_TM  Oh my God - I've been waiting for this utility like forever. Can't wait to try it out - may be I can start using my Mac Mini to play CDs without having the Mini make more sound than the speakers. Great!

LARSEN2K4  Works great with my internal and external DVD-drive on my Mac mini G4 - but there's a bug in the installation routine:

The deamon installs into /LibArary/DiscRotate, instead of /Library/DiscRotate, so I had to move it to the corret path manually.
