MR.ASH  As for now i've tested three diffrent Mediaservers for OSX and my PS3. Twonky Media scores third behind EyeConnect and the winner MediaLink.

Twonky Media is not very easy to use (compared with the other tow) an still costs 29,95$. MediaLink's only 20$). Twonky has many features indeed, but no full integration in iLife (except iTunes). Also starting up or spting the server is very fishy and far from user friendly.

Allthough it's a good Media Center software but there are better and cheaper solutions on the sofware market. In my oppinion Twonky must be freeware.

MUTANT  I don't think MediaLink and Twonky are comparable. Medialink is a unitasker, it ONLY does PS3, Twonky is a DLNA server, meaning I can use it on any of my DLNA devices, 360, D-Link, PS3, DirecTV.

Or that is what the marketing says at least.

LYLEHM  Twonky allows my OS X Mac to stream a variety of media types to both my Playstation3 and my Denon AVR-3808ci. I can specify any media directory, including my iTunes library. A web client allows for streaming to other computers and now, web enabled portable devices. Download the fully functional 30 day trial and see for yourself. Well worth the price.

Installation and configuration is relatively easy. Knowing that that default port is 9000 can help with that.

The previous version, 4.4.2 installed in /Library/StartupItems/MediaServer and /usr/local/mediaserver. Version 4.4.4 changes this and installs in /Applications (show package contents on the app to see the guts and .ini file). However, the current package installer warns of a newer version on my system and then fails the installation. Dragging the installer to unpkg (also available on MacUpdate), easily extracts the application for a manual install. Make sure you terminate any previous version and remove it before running the new app. Save your old ini file so you can copy settings and your registration number.
