DESCRIPTION

iWatchTV is an application that lets you organize episodes of your favorite TV shows with ease.

iWatchTV keeps all videos and subtitles clean and ordered in its place (~/Movies/iWatch TV/) so that it won't be the mess on your hard drive anymore.

With iWatchTV you can always know which is the next episode you are waiting to see as plugins can fetch episodes information such as air dates and titles and look for new subtitles and torrents to download.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.6:
  • Better user interface
  • More files extensions supported : rm, rmvb

Fixes :
  • epguides.com plugin should work again
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

DANIEL WHICKER  Great application, although I have run into one snag... it garbles some of the filenames on CIFS shares. Seems to work fine locally and on NFS shares, just not CIFS...

DER_HEXER  Thank you very much for adding the "restore filter on startup"-function!! Greatly appreciated! (Would it be possible to save the selection on the shows, too?)

The bugfix for the spinning wheel doens't seem to catch on epguides entry "BigBrother". Causes the program to run on 100% CPU and seems to hang.

And a suggestion for next version(s):

A filter for "next episode" or somthing like "episodes this week"/"episodes today" would be cool because this makes iWatchTV some sort of TV-Guide. One could use this with the "unseen"-filter you might say, but then also all episodes are shown which dont have a air-date yet.

JDUB800  Nice idea, but the DL from the site shows French application text on my British system. Can see English in the screenies, so they exist somewhere...?

CLINTH  The alias feature is just what I asked. Now I don't have to store files locally and things work just fine. I haven't tried to delete the files pointed to by the alias, but I'm hoping that will work even on remote drives.

There are still some glitches in how easily and accurately the app picks up the pointers to torrents and episode guides, but things are improving. Keep up the good work and you'll eventually have a very useful app.

Also, it would be good if there were an easier way to import links to the video files. Dropping them one-by-one into the app is always going to limit the usefulness of the app.

CLINTH  Turns out it isn't aliasing for files on remote drives. It seemed to, at first, but isn't doing it, now. Again, this defeats the idea of being able to play video files that aren't resident on the hard drive. Not much improvement over requiring duplicates of the files in the iWatchTV folder.

Still, I have high hopes for this developer and his app.

DER_HEXER  Would like to see a small change in iWatchTV:

When closing the program my settings for "all, unseen, aired, available" are lost. The same thing with the selection of the shows.

The reason why I would like iWatchTV to keep the selection on the left and the selection on the top is: I could simply run it and see without clicking or selecting, which episode has just aired. With the current version I have to selcet (cmd+a) all shows and click on "unseen" and "aired" which is anoying.

So to sum it up: please keep the current selections for the next startup and I would be very happy with your program!

::MILE::  Not for me...

I actually did read the help files and all and I tried everything, but maybe I just expected something else...!? I don't really see _any_ advantage in using this, none whatsoever...!?

It requires lots of manual work, everything has to be added by the user and even then it doesn't give you any additional options...

I'm not going to rate it this time, but I'm really disappointed with the whole thing...this doesn't have any use or value...

BRICE MALLARD  Great great app. once it is set up properly but you really need to read the help of Angeman's website before it can fully work. In the end it really does what it says.

Couldn't you make your app automatically search and copy the epguides.com and xtvi numbers of the TV shows instead of a manual set up ?

Nice to see that you fixed the drop files.

JONESMAC  I downloaded the episodes through Transmission and placed the files in the iWatchTV folder. Why won't it show that I have the episodes on my computer?

JONESMAC  nevermind. It only accepts avi filetypes for your movies. I downloaded mkvs. I assume this will change in future releases.

JONESMAC  I actually just read it on the website but have not tested it myself.

http://angeman7.free.fr/iWatchTV/help.php?language=en&version=1.0

"Editing episodes

You can edit an episode by double-clicking on it. You can modify its movie and its subtitles by drag & drop. The file extension for the movie has to be avi and the file extension for the subtitles has to be srt. When you drop a file, it is automatically renamed and moved to the ~/Movies/iWatch TV/ folder to be managed by iWatchTV."

::MILE::  yeah, I read all that as well and tried it in different ways, but so far I haven't managed to add a single movie file to the app...! :(((

::MILE::  Oh crap, I finally managed to get a file into the app -- this is weirdly complicated, unnecessarily strange even...! I actually have to put in all the data, then choose an empty episode by doubleclicking and then I can finally drag and drop the file on the opening sheet...!?! Jeez...

And even then it doesn't seem to import any additiaonal data from anywhere or do anything useful...?! Maybe I still don't get it but this app seems totally unintuitive and useless to me, sorry... :(((

I guess I just put my hopes up too high...

but actually I can't get it to work at all anyhow...!? even when I copy some files to my MacBook Pro and/or manually place it either in Movies or the iWatchTV folder -- nothing shows up...!?

How's this supposed to work...?? I tried opening them with the app, I tried drag&drop, nothing...! :(
