EAK  I just upgraded my old Mac to a Duo Mac Mini and have been loving it. Just discovered Vuse and the PS3 device option and then found Medialink.

I installed both and started watching movies viewing pictures, etc...all without issue. I was in heaven.

A day later, I downloaded a bunch of vids (avi format) booted up the PS3 and my world changed. The vids loaded but it took 3 mins to start and then the stream stopped and started every few seconds.

The only think I changed on my system was loading up Timemachine. But since then I have turned it off and still have the same problem.

My apartment has a build in network and my PS3/Mac and on PC laptop all use it.

I have tinkered and tinkered with settings and even tried copying my vids to the PS3 hard drive but cannot make this work right or fast.

    Frustrated in Vancouver. ;-)

GUITARPETE987  The program actually works great for me. Flawless music streaming, flawless video streaming, flawless with photos.

There' ONE quirk that BUGS THE HELL OUT OF ME:

Whenever I play a song, it takes the track information about 45 seconds to appear, and when the next song plays, the info for the previous song sticks around for that same amount of time.

This can't be my streaming speed, because HD movies play without a hitch (and their information appears immediately). I'm using Mac OS Tiger and Medialink 7.2.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

DSCHLENKER  absolutely love this product! after moving from a windows environment + 360 to a mac environment + ps3 I was so excited to find medialink. v1.72 fixes a number of network related issues, can't wait to see how they improve this software in the future.

thing i love the most: attaching an external drive to my network, then having medialink broadcast the location to the PC. I no longer need to have my music & pictures on my computer to watch/listen on my tv.

features - music, video, files, pictures - they cover the gamut

ease of use - installs as a preference pane, always on!

value - currently priced at $20, less than the cost of buying a cable to connect my computer to the TV.

stability - recent update, 1.72 has made the product incredibly stable

Future Mini-Request - *if* it's possible to detect when the PS3 is communicating with Medialink, prevent the computer from going to sleep. (Alternatively, if the two are communicating .. prevent link from dying when notebook lid is closed).

BRIAN DUFFY  Even though I use an ethernet cable to my PS3 from my wireless router, after I use the Medialink demo, my internet access on my computer(s) is extremely slow. I have to uninstall Medialink, restart both the computer and the router/modem to get back to normal speeds.

    Still get DNLA errors.

Wish it would support .mov files.

BADGERS_NADGERS  Still getting constant DNLA errors. Works fine for about one song, then gives up. Server then has to be restarted on the Mac. Would be such a great product if only it worked.

TILTEDCIRCLE  DUUUDE! I just downloaded & purchased today. Probably the first bit of software that I feel was worth the $$. WRONG! After the download, the software did not discover my PS3 device at all. I never even found install or setup instructions. I feel GYPPED! I contacted Nullsoft via their Contact form and I have yet to hear ANYTHING back! WTF@!? That, my friend, is TERRIBLE customer service. I buy a product, I expect it to work. If anything, I expect a blog or notification that there is a problem with the current version. DUDE if there is no fix soon, I will be requesting my money back. Not cool.

DIAMOND  Seeing as all Media servers for MAC are "try before you buy" You were even more silly to pay up front.

Routers are the cause of the Errors with medialink, 1 G bit router models support was improved. But at cost to the 100Mb/s router speeds and the reduction of Copy cat mode speed.

TILTEDCIRCLE  Yes, okay so I want to apologize for my brashness earlier. I do feel that the method of contacting Nullriver should have included an automated 'thank you, .... please allow 24hrs...' email or something. @DIAMOND, I DID 'try before you buy' back on version 1.59 a month or two ago. I had no problems then, didn't think there would be any problems now. Silly or not, I decided to go for the gusto. (In retrospect, I should have tested the newest version.)

In regards to Nullriver, I did receive a response appx. 24hrs later. It was basically an email telling me to debug the network and the software that could have been interfering.

I basically used 'AppCleaner' to remove a few unused apps that could have been the culprit, re-downloaded the latest version 1.72 of MediaLink and things worked as it should.

@Nullriver, my thoughts about this app is that it works pretty darn good. I thought so a few months ago, and I still think so now. My only gripe is that customer service and/or UX (User eXperience) needs improvement.

So, again, apologies. I had a networking weekend from hell. I think I will stick to Semantic UX Design. Do try this software! When all is well, it is easy to set up.

GARY W.  I recently discovered this phenomenon about being able to stream from mac to PS3, so was pretty excited. I downloaded it both for my older desktop (white intel) Tiger mac, and also for my newer Leopard alum. Macbook.

However, I can't get it to work for desktop Tiger, (won't recognize PS3 or vice-versa) but works fine on notebook Leopard.

I even switched the connections so the notebook would take the place of the desktop. Works fine. Amazing. Cool.

I would assume the author is working on a fix here, and will be updating before too long.

So My rating is strictly for Leopard/Macbook, and not for Desktop/Tiger, which would be a zero. If it works, it works great!

MACMAN858  Is everyone still experiencing the DLNA protocol error issue? I DL'ed this app for the first time today and I can't get it to work. The MediaLink option appeared immediately on the PS3 but I keep getting the DLNA (7531) error message.
