MOOSEDESIGN  This is a hard product to recommend at the moment... Most of it works great, most of the time... but the support is absolutely appalling. Even saying "feedback" or "support" implies that it exists, and I am not convinced it does. There is not even so much as an automated response when you send in a request. If you have questions or issues its essentially up to your ingenuity and that of the community at large to solve. Aside from a basic troubleshooting guide there are no manuals, no blog, no references of any kind, so the total silence from support is truly galling. You don't have to look far to find that I am not exaggerating. So, like I said, hard to recommend. It works for the most part, but if you have any issues at all you are completely on your own. Don't expect any help whatsoever from Nullriver.

WWZ  I agree -- it seems like there is an emperors new clothes thing going on with this product. I just downloaded it and quite frankly it is terrible. Sure it can see my PS3 but the alleged "CopyCat" feature is non existent.

The ability to do any sort of rescaling of photos at all does not exist. It's just a silly preference pane. I wouldn't pay $1.00 for this let alone $20.00.

ths is just vapor ware. Don't waste your time.

RPSX  i signed up just to write this review. i gave it a 3, because 6 months ago i would give it a 5, and now i give it a 1. it worked pretty well when i first got it - then, with each update, performance has actually gotten worse. now, i actually see quite annoying and new playback bugs - not, just speed problems. though, more and more that happens as well, though sometimes restarting the medialink server helps. my system has not changed. buyer beware. at the rate they are going it will be unusable in a few months. keep a usb hard drive handy to copy your files too, as its the only way around frustration with restarting the software, and sometimes after doing so having it stream at a proper speed and sometimes not. really frustrating. if there is some programmer with the knowledge to create a dlna server for a mac, now is the time to give it your go because these guys have lost that knowledge or they are just getting sloppy.

ASHMADUX  yeah it would be great if there was better reviews and information for this program. I am highly suspect of nullriver because of thier past performance with some of thier software and lack of support- most notable being pspware, which started out great and became a complete disaster. they simply stopped updating it, even when sony came otu with new features. usability dramatically shifted from one version to the next.

however, i have the demo installed, have had it for sometime now, but one bitten twice shy. and this has been out for sometime, doesn tseem like much people are using it, so i cant help but think this is goignto happen again. couple these guys past perfomance and sony's ability to screw up ps3 updates, i guess ill be on the fence a lot longer.

nulriver needs to step their game up, they act like midnight programmers.

DSCHLENKER  absolutely love this product! after moving from a windows environment + 360 to a mac environment + ps3 I was so excited to find medialink. v1.72 fixes a number of network related issues, can't wait to see how they improve this software in the future.

thing i love the most: attaching an external drive to my network, then having medialink broadcast the location to the PC. I no longer need to have my music & pictures on my computer to watch/listen on my tv.

features - music, video, files, pictures - they cover the gamut

ease of use - installs as a preference pane, always on!

value - currently priced at $20, less than the cost of buying a cable to connect my computer to the TV.

stability - recent update, 1.72 has made the product incredibly stable

Future Mini-Request - *if* it's possible to detect when the PS3 is communicating with Medialink, prevent the computer from going to sleep. (Alternatively, if the two are communicating .. prevent link from dying when notebook lid is closed).

SPACEMANSPIFF  Worked great on Leopard but 10.6 breaks MediaLink.

Sent an email to the developer and -- shocker! -- no reply. Same as last time I emailed with them a question. No blog on their site saying what's happening one way or the other.

COVERTCRACKER  Same problem here -- one minute Medialink works (always works better for me to copy the file to the PS3 than stream, even though I'm hardwired -- head off problems before they happen), and the next it doesn't.

Over at Mac Forums (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=780165), someone posted a link to an earlier Medialink version that should still work with Snow Leopard and PS3 3.0 (installed, but haven't tried it yet):

    Good luck!

EAK  I just upgraded my old Mac to a Duo Mac Mini and have been loving it. Just discovered Vuse and the PS3 device option and then found Medialink.

I installed both and started watching movies viewing pictures, etc...all without issue. I was in heaven.

A day later, I downloaded a bunch of vids (avi format) booted up the PS3 and my world changed. The vids loaded but it took 3 mins to start and then the stream stopped and started every few seconds.

The only think I changed on my system was loading up Timemachine. But since then I have turned it off and still have the same problem.

My apartment has a build in network and my PS3/Mac and on PC laptop all use it.

I have tinkered and tinkered with settings and even tried copying my vids to the PS3 hard drive but cannot make this work right or fast.

    Frustrated in Vancouver. ;-)

MACMAN858  Is everyone still experiencing the DLNA protocol error issue? I DL'ed this app for the first time today and I can't get it to work. The MediaLink option appeared immediately on the PS3 but I keep getting the DLNA (7531) error message.

LIGHTSKINNNN38  MediaLink was working before the update. I updated my PS3 and Media link to 1.7, and my PS3 cannot locate MediaLink at ALL. It just doesn't work!!!! I hope there will be a solution to this issue soon.

RPSX  btw, i found this app called fuppes - http://fuppes.ulrich-voelkel.de - if someone with programming skillz could make a graphic front end for this and proper installer then maybe we have a new alternative. but, for me, its way to complex to setup now...
