DESCRIPTION
proNotes has a whole host of features to keep you organized and help you find your information quickly. The whole philosophy behind proNotes is to give you powerful features that keep you productive without getting in your way.
Notes
The basic component of proNotes is a note. A note has a category, title, status, note text, attachments, a keyword, and to-dos. What's cool about proNotes is as soon as you save a new note, it's organized for you in the Main Window and it's text is searchable. It does all this on the fly. You don't have to create an organizational scheme or a directory structure in advance.
Fast Searching
There are two ways of searching proNotes: clicking & typing.
- Clicking on a category finds all the titles with that category. Clicking on a title finds just the notes with that title. One last click in the details table shows you the note.
- Typing in the search field narrows things down just like clicking. proNotes will quickly show you all the notes, for all the statuses, that have the search text in the category, title, note, attachment name, to-do item or keyword. You can search all the elements or just one (by clicking on the magnifying glass in the search field). You can search for words or a phrase (by surrounding your search in double-quotes).
To-Dos Like You've Never Used Them Before
Many programs have to-do lists but proNotes handles to-do lists in a unique and powerful way. Just like with notes, proNotes lets you click and search your to-do's. That means in just a few clicks you can: - See all your to-dos for all your notes.
- See just the to-dos for a particular title (i.e. all the to-dos for the Acme account)
- See just the to-dos for a particular note (i.e. all the to-dos from the conference call you had with Jack Strong on 12/26/2008.)
Pretty cool huh? Not many programs can do that so well and as fast as proNotes! Check out the screen shots here
WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.5: To-Dos
- Redesigned Preview Pane that now shows to-do detail.
- In addition to a to-do status (open or completed) each to-do can have a priority and a due date.
- Upgraded to-do display in the Main Window that sorts to-dos by due date
- Completely redesigned to-do printout.
- To-Dos are sortable by "Status/Priority/Due Date, Status/Due Date/Priority, Status Only, Date Only, To-Do Text Only, and Priority Only
- In either the Main or Note Window you can view all your to-dos or just the open ones.
- In the Note Window, to-dos are now part of the window, not a sliding pane which allows you to see your to-dos in much more detail.
Other
- When pasting text into the Note Window you can now use the menu commands "Set Last Paste to Default Style" instead of leaving it in the original size and font.
- In the Note Window you can change any text by selecting "Set Selection to Default Style."
- Bookmarks have been added and edited. You can bookmark any condition in the Main Window, selected category, title, note or search text.
- The drop-down in the search field in the Main Window now gives you a list of search prefixes: if you want to find all the attachments that contain the name "diagram" just type diagram in the search field and select "kind:att" or "kind:attachment".
- The drop-down in the search field also shows you your last ten searches.
- The drop-down in the search field now gives you access to all your bookmarks and keywords.
- You can use your arrow keys to navigate the category and title fields.
- You can how press a letter key when in the category or title field to jump right to the entry with that letter.
- In the Preview Pane,
- automatically highlight allowing you to right-click and open the url in a web browser.
- Right-clicking almost everywhere gives you access to a lot of the most comment menu commands.
- When saving notes, urls are identified and formatted for easy identification.
- A bunch of bug fixed and background improvements. They don't look like new features but they make proNotes work better than ever.

FRASERIZED I'm going to be honest. I don't know much at all about software development and design. I may not know much about GUI's and how URL's are supposed to look. But I do know if I like a program or not and I love this one. I downloaded proNotes on a whim. I'm a salesman and I needed something to help me keep track of my appointments, follow-thru's etc. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and it's made things so much easier. If I get a voicemail from a client from three weeks ago and I don't remember what we talked about I can go to proNotes and look up the note I entered when I talked to them. It couldn't be any easier. My fiancee and I are also planning a wedding. We've talked to a dozen DJs, ten photographers and 7 or 8 florists. We can't keep track of the prices and features that each one has offered so we threw them in proNotes. proNotes has made a normally excruciating process (especially for a guy) a little bit easier, granted I still have to stare at flowers for hours but at least the info is organized. In conclusion I love this program, I'd recommend it to anyone; salesmen, executives, IT professionals, teachers, small business owners and even housewives. It is the ultimate organizational tool, download it, you won't regret it.

BRAD STONE This is the developer. First, I'd like to thank Anon for downloading proNotes and trying it out. I'm also appreciate him taking the time to post his comments. I'm interested in as many thoughtful comments as I can get! First, to get my Mac credentials on the table. My first machine was a 128k Mac back in 1986. I've been developing on a Mac since. My primary work machine is, and always has been, a Mac. proNotes was developed on the Mac for the Mac. Anyone who's used Apple's i-Apps will intuitively know how to use proNotes. I intentionally designed it to look like a Mac app. No compromises were made on the Mac side for the Windows version. I'm sure our Windows friends will complain this looks too much like a Mac app. Regarding categories and titles. I found during beta testing that most users like the ability to add a category and/or title on the fly instead of having a separate user interface to set them up in advance. To keep you productive I figured your time is better spent doing your work and not setting things up. You'll notice proNotes doesn't require you to set anything up in advance. I did that on purpose. Also, to make things easier, when you create a new note the category and title is filled in if you have a note selected when you hit the "new" button. If you want a different category or title, the fields type-ahead for you or you can select an existing category or title from a drop down. In fact, after you select a particular category, the titles listed in the drop down are only the ones associated with that category. There was no advanced set up to make this connection, just by creating notes it gets set up for you. That's one of the many little things I designed in proNotes to help you stay organized and stay productive. I can't really comment on the text rendering. I'm running Leopard on a MacBook Pro. I'm writing this on an iMac and I've seen it on other machines too. It looks fine to me. The text features are not as powerful as Word but they're not intended to be. Yes, I would like the urls to show up blue with an underline. I expect to implement that in a future release. Regardless of how the urls look, I do personally think it's cool that you can highlight a web address, command-click (or right-click), and have it open in a browser. The same thing works for e-mail addresses and names in Apple's Address Book. That saves you a bunch of clicks. The more clicks I can eliminate for you the more productive you'll be. Regarding the dates. I'd like to learn about the invalid date format. I've never seen that and would like to fix it if it's a bug. I have 1,000 notes in proNotes. I haven't seen that bug but I've developed enough apps to know things slip through. Please e-mail me the details at support@softraph.com. ANON BUD A bit too clunky for me. The only way to create categories is on the fly. The date column indicates that the date is in an invalid format, even though a date stamp is used and new notes automatically record the creation/modification date. No way that I could see to attach an address book entry to an existing note. GUI is not Mac-like and text is not rendered well. Note formation is not intuitive. URL addresses are not automatically rendered (you have to highlight and then control-click on addresses to get a pop-up menu allowing to open in a browser). Like a lot of Mac apps that are also made for Windows, it lacks the elegance of a truly native Mac application. This is not a review and I am refraining from assigning a rating so as to not skew things. I only used the app for a short while, but long enough to know that I do not want to use this.
