Stacks icons are now always on front, even on the Downloads stack. Users don't need to sort the Downloads folder by name anymore to bring the stack icon to front.
EAGLELOUK You can download them from "Stacks In Da Place" menu or just find them on google. (Version 1.0.1)

DARKXSUN Yeah, it doesn't work at all with the Downloads stack. That's because all it does is copy the file you give it to the stack and rename it " ". This is great (although really easy to do by hand) if you sort by name, otherwise it is not helpful. (Version 1.0)
JOSEPH SCHNEIDER This is awesome! Of course, I applied my icons by hand, but will certainly use this app next time I want to change them, which will be soon. Though this app is simple it is very valuable.
I was going to ask how you got a stack to the left of the crosswalk, but then I realized it is the application icon. (Version 1.0)
FROMAGE-HEAD the icon does not stay at the bottom, it's replaced by new items (Version 1.0)

EAGLELOUK Yes, right-click on the downloads stack, then choose "sort by > Name"
Personaly, I use to sort my downloads by added date. And because my downloads folder is always empty (when I download something, I use to place the archive in the trash directly, I hate my folders being messed up), I don't really care about the stack icon position, it will came back to front anyway when I send the useless file to the trash. SHOCK J It appears that what this application does is simply put a folder with a custom icon inside your downloads (or documents) folder and name it " " (blank). Giving it a blank name make it always appear first if you have your stack sorted by name. If you have it sorted any other way, this trick won't work. I personally prefer my Downloads folder to be sorted by Date Added. So this doesn't really work for me. Plus, the fact you have to have a blank folder inside the chosen Stack's folder is kind of disappointing. I like to keep my stuff better organized than that. Every time I see I want to delete it. While this is an interesting "trick," I wouldn't call this a true customization, especially since it only works for 1 of the 5 sorting presents a Stack provides. (Version 1.0)

FROMAGE-HEAD I also use by date added, I'm not sure there is a trick for that kind of sorting.
But there is one for date sorting (creation and modification I think) by setting the date creation in a far future.
So this app is just adding a "no-name" folder, I'm not sure this is so useful. But at least I discovered nice sets of stack icons. (Version 1.0)

EAGLELOUK In fact, the app just added an unnamed folder, but it has been made for users who know how to made a custom stack Icon with this method, but don't want to do it with their own hands. Stacks In Da Place just spare some time.
Whatever, if I can find how to make it works without creating a folder, it will be the 1.1 update then ^^ (Version 1.0)

EAGLELOUK Ok, I've checked Palette (a Shareware), and it does the same as Stacks In Da Place. Well I think there is no other solution for the moment. But, I'm sure that Apple will include a Stack preferences for 10.5.2 ;-) (Version 1.0)
