DESCRIPTION
PEnGUIn Encoder MP4 which is a GUI for mencoder is designed for encode from most video file formats to MP4. Users may find that the GUI looks like the same PEnGUIn Encoder PMP except optimize muxer mode for ipod, iphone, Apple TV and PSP. But all preset profiles are only tested within itune without device. (All I only have is PSP).
In the tutorials folder, I also put some mp4 videos helping users easier to know how PEnGUIn Encoder works.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 0.97b8:
- A/V Sync was improved.
- DivX 6 Output directly (no more divx in MP4 container)
- Occasionally muxing crash is addressed.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

PORTACIS I tried this but I must be doing something wrong. Everytime I want to encode a vid I get the error Cannot find file /Users/MyUsername/Movies/Moviename_vid.264 Error importing /Users/MyUsername/moviename_vid.264: Requested URL is not valid or cannot be found The Movie I want to encode can be a Moviename.rmvb or Moviename.mov or Moviename.avi. I tried different settings and put the movies in different folders, it's always the same. I guess I'm just making a stupid mistake, but which one? (Extra codes are installed and the binaries are updated. I'm using it with OS X 10.4.11) (Version 0.97b8)

LAFEAR Please remove the old one "moviename_vid.264". And tries to encode again. Maybe use the Preview Mode "command + P" first. Btw, for now, penguin encoder mp4 can't encode all the rmvb files. Maybe try a different rmvb file to see if it works or not. Thanks a lot!! (Version 0.97b8)

CICI2009 Does PEnGUIn Encoder MP4 also support to convert VOB into MP4? Why my VOB file was converted into AVI when the conversion was completed, instead of MP4. And this software also did not allow me to choose "Itune" as my export destination. I am confused!! (Version 0.97b8)

TRANCE This Divx function with this new version works great thanks ....the audio is in sync now (and the export is much faster and brighter than mp4) (Version 0.97b8)

TRANCE works great for converting .rm files (except for the older ones), just have to use the optimize instead of the divx finction or the sound will be out of sync. only problem is the converted files are darker than the original, a fix would be appreciated :)

CHRIS FAM The only Mac app that can convert RM and RMVB format. Too bad it can't convert to AVI with DivX which I can watch on consumer DVD player with DivX certified. I did notice before the MP4 is created, Penguin actually convert the video to AVI (DivX 4) but later it merge with the audio resulting MP4. Hope the developer can make it on next release. Also increase the conversion speed and reduced CPU usage. Like VisualHub does. Many thanks! :D (Version 0.97b6)

MACONNECT I quickly needed to convert an IV50 video, and I didn't want to learn how to use mencoder. Worked perfectly (I'd give it 4 stars, but I couldn't figure out how the rating-thing works here) (Version 0.97b5 (Shrink))

DOM21 Are you saying this encoder can convert the old Indeo 3,4,5 codecs into something Intel Macs can handle?? (Version 0.97b6)

MACONNECT Yes Sir, exactly (Version 0.97b7)

WINGK1314 hmm.. I can't seem to concert RMVB files properly. It finishes converting with no problems. But I only end up with 2 files. One .aac sound file and another h264 file. Isn't it meant to be one file?? and my finder says the h264 file is zero bytes in size whereas the log in the program says it's around 200mb????? I don't get it... sigh. And I was hoping my headaches with rmvb files on os x was solved :( (Version 0.97b5)

LAFEAR Hi, Did you install the extra code from the mplayer? You will find the download link under the help menu of PEnGUIn Encoder. By the way, the rmvb isn't fully supported by the mencoder. Sometimes, partial rmvb files can't be encoded till now. (Version 0.97b5)
| Jun 1 2008 |
yes, I have already installed it. Well, it's a pity that not all rmvb's work. I was really looking forward to it =(. Oh well, I'll keep an eye out on this app. (Version 0.97b5)

NT1024 I have the same problem too. Should I just download the extra code and reconvert the movie? (Version 0.97b8)
| Mar 14 2009 |
ANONYMOUS Yes, please install extra codes for RMVB converting first^^ (Version 0.97b8)

NT1024 I can convert the movie, no problem. But they are not recognized in ipod. It said the video can't be read in ipod when I Sync it. (Version 0.97b8)

ANONYMOUS I think it would be compatible with the recent ipod or ipod touch. Did you select the optimize mode for ipod or iphone? Btw, it would be better use default size. As I know, for certain old model ipod, they might only support 320x240. And maybe also update the latest firmware is need. (Version 0.97b8)

L008COM Doesn't do ANY HD encoding. When I read "Optimize for AppleTV" I expected 720p @23fps, which is the max AppleTV can handle. But alas, I'm still stuck ripping video with quicktime player. (Version 0.96E8)

ZLXUE I have used PEnGUIn to convert rmvb to mpeg files, but the converted result is always the avi format instead of mpeg. Why? Thanks for your help. (Version 0.97b8)
