MARKUS WINTER slags the REALbasic development system without even trying or understanding any of it (his "review" came out within 30 min of REAbasic2007 R5 being released, and by his own admission he has trouble even understanding REALbasic) and who's programming expertise according to himself seems to consist solely of dragging interface elements and using the connectors: "3. It is NOT simple and easy to understand. It's interface is a joke. You have tons of items to drag into your interface, but there are no connections as far as I can tell (maybe they're just hard to find). a. Xcode and Interface Builder are easy to understand, the connections are easy to create, and it's interface is very helpful and easy to learn." Sorry, but why on Earth would anyone sprout such nonsense. You are just ruining your reputation. I know I would not even consider trying your apps now (but at least I'm fair enough to write this as a commentary, not as a 1 star review like you did). (Version 1.0rc2)

MACUPDATE ADMIN This post should have been posted as a response to this developer's (TereNovo) review of REALbasic, it should not have been posted here. You should repost it where it belongs. (Version 1.0rc2)

DAJONEL I'm sorry if you were upset about the REALBasic post. I was having a really bad day yesterday, and I let my opinion get the best of me. If you don't like me or my products, I'd like to clear that up. P.S. If you think NovoIcons should be more original, let me know and if you want I can try to remove it from MacUpdate (if they let me). (Version 1.0rc2)

MACUPDATE ADMIN If you want something removed, just contact us via email, no problem. (Version 1.0rc2)

DAJONEL I just did yesterday. Did you receive it? I contacted you a few months ago about NovoEdit, and you didn't remove it. If you can, please remove both of my applications because I need to slow down and rethink what I'm doing software wise. I might not be doing an more developing (hold for applause). I've dug myself into a hole, and I'd kind of like to work my way back out. My apologies to anyone that did not like my post about REALBasic. My opinion remains as posted, but I have found that sometimes it does better to remain silent and not act like a standard for everything. I know that everyone deserves an opinion, and I need to not hold my opinion over them as superior and judge them. If I do more developing, I'm going to need to do more studying on the subject. I am a beginner who feeds off of sample code. I need to learn to actually make something myself without a base. I need to get serious and start learning the basics and later learn how to make great software (if I ever learn how). Wish me luck if you think I'm worthy of it. Also, let me know what you think of my software, and you can still check out my project NovoIcons at my website. NovoEdit is dead. Gone. Done with (hold for applause). I know no one liked that application, and I need to face the facts. It's not time to reinvent the wheel, especially not a useless one. David Nelson (Version 1.0rc2)

MACUPDATE ADMIN No, it was not received by me... Nice post, we do wish you the best of luck. I'd give you my personal MU email addy, but then I'd only be asking for spamola at an exponentially higher level. Sorry, please try again to contact macupdate@macupdate.com (Version 1.0rc2)

DAJONEL Thanks -- you've been awesome. Also thanks to Jack Mac (wolfeatsworld) for the 5 star rating. I may continue developing NovoIcons, and if I do, they will be available on my website. David Nelson (Version 1.0rc2)

RORO01 This application - as the developer states in "About NovoIcons" - is based on Iconverter. It is in fact a Leopard version of Iconverter which in itself is suitable for Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. I also would like to recommend FastIcns which is extremely useful. (Version 1.0rc2)

DAJONEL Yes, it is *based* on Iconverter, and developer, let me know if you're not okay with that. It is slightly different from FastIcns (which is very good -- I have it in my Dock). FastIcns only supports ICNS and PNG, while NovoIcons supports a few more. FastIcns also supports ICNS a little better, probably because it seems to be geared towards the ICNS file format. NovoIcons is more geared towards PNG, GIF, and JPG, while TIFF and ICNS are supported, but not as well. Remember, developer, if you read this post, let me know if you're not okay with me basing my application off of your great little app. NovoIcons is more than Iconverter with a toolbar... NovoIcons supports Mac OS X 10.4, and may support 10.3, but it has not been tested. (Version 1.0rc2)

WOLFEATSWORLD Now that the developer has kindly made this wonderful program available to us Tiger users, and I thank him for that, I had an opportunity to give this a test ride this evening. Outstanding utility! Have wanted something like this, i.e., simple, intuitive, stable and just look at the price! NovoIcons has meet a need I've had for a long time: you have an image that you really like, and would love to use it as an icon for a folder or application. Well, in about 3 seconds you can now have that image in icon form, with no work, no expense, no hassels. And it has a batch feature too! Wonderful job, much appreciated, and great personal support from it's very kind (and generous) developer. Hats off! (Version 1.0rc1)

DAJONEL You're welcome! The Tiger version is now available for downloading: http://www.terenovo.com/software/novoicons/NovoIcons_Tiger_1.0rc1.zip This was a quick, "back-build" of the Leopard version, so please let me know if you experience any trouble. Help documentation will be added in the final release of version 1.0. Thank you for your patience! David Nelson (Version 1.0rc1)
