DESCRIPTION
Rumpus is an easy-to-use, high-performance FTP, WebDAV and Web file transfer server for Mac OS X.
Key features include built-in, easy to administer user accounts, integrated Web file transfers, file upload notification, extensive security options, blazing performance, and more... Also included is a remote server activity monitor, Rumpus FileWatch, and a server statistics widget, RumpusStat.
WHAT'S NEW
Version 6.2fc1:
- File Name and Content Search - Web users can now perform text searches to find files by name or content. Powered by the SpotLight search engine running on the server, search results are restricted to each user's content area and the folder in which the search is performed, maintaining server security and making it easy for users to control the scope of their queries.
- Growl Notifications - Rumpus now supports Growl, the popular notification system for OS X. All Rumpus notices, including file uploads, downloads, and administrator events can be directed to Growl notifications for simple, quick and unintrusive display, even across a network or to an iPhone (with the use of a 3rd party iPhone app).
- iPhone Optimized Web Interface - While many file management tasks, such as uploading files, don't make sense for mobile users, viewing server content using an iPhone is increasingly common. Rumpus 6.2 includes a new, simplified, iPhone-specific interface optimized for viewing media files on the go.
- New Web Appearance Options - An entirely new WFM template set, called "Modern", has been added, offering an optional sleek new look to the Rumpus Web File Manager. All Rumpus appearances can also make use of new background fades and patterns, and display simplified file listings with pop-up menu file actions.
- Automatic Drop Shipping - When a file is drop shipped, an e-mail which contains an automatic file download link is sent to a recipient, allowing large files to be transferred reliably. Rumpus 6.2 offers a built-in drop ship function which allows known Rumpus users to quickly and easily drop ship files to anyone on the Internet.
- Guest Uploads By Request - Maxum has also added what can best be described as "reverse drop shipping", which we call "File Requests". Using a File Request, any Rumpus user can allow anyone, anywhere on the Internet to send a file simply by clicking a single-use file transfer link in an e-mail message. Files uploaded by guests are delivered to the Rumpus user's content folder, and the Rumpus user is notified the moment the file has arrived.
REQUIREMENTS

MUTZ Have Rumpus running for a while now on an old g4 450 mhz. Our FTP-provider was not helping us fast enough so we took matters in our own hands. Great software, the ability of the HTTP server to help non techie people to upload and download a file is very nice and to the point. Installation was easy if you know something about port fowards. All the extras are great and are explained very well... (Version 6.0.6)

DONMONTALVO We have Rumpus deployed to over a dozen high profile companies. This is good stuff. It's difficult to find an issue - and if one were found, it would be fixed very quickly. Easy to set up, easy to manage, easy to support. This is great stuff. Believe all he 5-star reviews. Don Montalvo, NYC (Version 6.0.2)

SANDERVL Great FTP software, smooth and easy configuration yet expandable enough to meet most small to medium sized setups. Price is very reasonable, especially if you count in the excellent support. Knowledgeable, fast and committed to help you achieve the best from this product. Highly recommended, mostly because of its user-friedliness to both users and admins. (Version 5.3.9)

WEB-JIVE The best alternative (and free) is PureFTP.. It's what I use for ftp servers when I need them. Since I purchased a Dlink DNS 323, it has a built in FTP server so now I have the best of both worlds! NAS with FTP (Version 5.3.5)
