FRANCOLA  Thanks allot for this! I like the Leo bar occasionally, but it is nice to have a choice!

COOLAPIC  great but it doesn't do it for me...

I use two screens, if I use this I get a white (or else) bar on top of the second screen that has no menu bar...

Hope there is something coming that's able to make the menu bar really opaque.

hey Apple, what silly idea to make that bar transparent !

MDSW  I'd be interested to know what is causing this issue for you; it should only modify the main screen (actually, it _can_ only modify the main screen). I also have two screens and have tested everything including switching the menubar while the program is running. Apples' APIs make this an inexact science, so I'd be curious about your particular situation. Please e-mail me if you have more details.

JETFIREDX  When you set a desktop picture in Leopard and then plug in the second monitor it has a different image... thus the modified pic from the first display is left being shown without the menubar to cover it and the second monitor has the normal Leopard menubar. I think Tiger would move the main desktop image to the second monitor if you had to set to be the primary when plugged in.

And I agree with the previous poster... Apple this was a lame idea. Please put in an option to disable it.

MDSW  To restore, just go to the usual System Preferences->Desktop & Screen Saver->Desktop (ctrl-click Change Desktop Background... from the desktop) and pick a new picture. Leopard will now display this picture. LeoColorBar makes no changes to your system, so uninstalling will have no effect.

SJK  The Leo prefix for the product name reminds me more of a future OS X Lion release more than Leopard. :)

    JETFIREDX  Good idea, but buggy.

    1. Refused to refresh the image after I had applied it the first time and then attempted to change it.

    2. Rounding of corners leaves artifacts of white at on the top most line of pixels on the screen.

    3. Rounding of screen corners should be done differently because the effect is too blurry and subtle. The image should be resized however it needs to be to fit the exact dimensions of the screen and then the rounding should happen so that the rounded corners are not scaled / stretched with the image when it is applied.

I still need to try it using a second monitor as the main display to see if there are any issues.

MDSW  1. Not sure why it wouldn't update for you; I can't duplicate that problem.

2 & 3. The "rounded corners" is a hack. The blurriness is because of the Leopard menubar transparency effect. The background image is actually generated as you suggest; look in your Pictures folder for LeoColorBarDesktopPicture, jpg to see it. Until someone figures out how to really change the menubar itself, this is probably as good as it will get.

SUTEHI  I have the same problem -- LeoColorBar worked great the first time I set the desktop, but any attempt to set it again results in no effect.

This is on a MacBook 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

E_COMMERCE  This is probably the nicest of these nascent tools. Kudos for that. :)

While I applaud what people are doing here, the real holy grail will be a solution that can make the menubar opaque - without modifying the desktop picture (or making a copy and modifying it - which is what I assume this does). After all, if you want to randomize your desktop picture (for instance), none of the tools so far will do this.
