OpaqueMenuBar... This little utility makes your menu bar in Leopard opaque, so that you can not see your desktop background image through it.
Verison 1.5:
- Supports multiple monitors, all sorts of desktop images and lets you customize the shade of grey you want.
- Due to using Leopard's built-in feature, a restart is now required after changes.

ODDYSSEEY I don't know exactly what you mean, but you can reset to the translucent menu bar by clicking on the "Revert" button in OpaqueMenuBar's window.

MM2270 Don't bother with this application, if all it does it fake it. If you want to really change your menu bar to opaque, and even varying shades of grey on a more permanent basis that will survive random desktop pic changes, head over to MacOSXHints.com. See this hint: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20071115135215262#comments Yes, it involves a little system level hacking in Terminal, but it really works, and so far has turned out to be completely safe to do. Read the various comments for ways to vary the parameters to get different shades of grey. Or, you can wait a few days until someone puts a GUI wrapper around this command to make it even easier to do.

TODDGARVIN I've installed this on two Macs (MBP and MP). Neither is showing me an opaque menu bar. It was working on the MPB for a few minutes (don't know how it suddenly started working) and then it stopped. I can't get it to work on either machine even though Activity Monitor shows that its running. Any help would be appreciated.

TODDGARVIN I spoke with the developer and my problem is the fact i am using a dual monitor setup. If you're only using a single monitor, then all you need to do (after launching the app) is change your desktop background. That will make the app "kick in".

DIGDOG1 Doesn't like tiled backgrounds. When you set a bg to "tile." it draws the menubar in white as advertised, but scales up the image to fill the rest of the screen instead of tiling it. Which makes it basically unusable to me.

ODDYSSEEY To uninstall, yes, you have to quit it first, either with Activity Monitor or the terminal (killall OpaqueMenuBar). Then, you can delete the application. To reset the desktop image, just open up the system preferences and go to Desktop/ScreenSaver settings. There, re-select your desktop image. Then it will be reset. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
