DESCRIPTION
DockSwitcher This app allows you to change the default dock in Leopard to a darker more 2D dock that can only normally be seen if your dock is set to display on the left or right instead of the bottom. It also allows you to switch back to the default "3D" style dock at will. New in 1.3 includes an option that allows your dock to show whether an application's windows are hidden by making the app's dock icon transparent.

I'm releasing this under the GPL 2, which I've included in this installer. Since I don't currently have the facilities to share files over the net so easily, if you want the source code (in the format of an XCode project) you'll have to e-mail me for them.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.3: Added new "show hidden" feature, allowing your dock to visually represent hidden applications better.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.5.

MATH CAMPBELL  Yeah, thanks for that. Of course, it'd be nice to critically compare your icon with mine, excepting your link goes to a dead end.

And what exactly does the icon have to do with the app anyways?

Link spammers suck.

DMARCOOT  Warning: this app hosed the mouse button mapping for Spaces on my Logitech mouse. I had to log out and log back in to get it to work.

MATH CAMPBELL  This will be a flaw in the Logitech drivers where I'd imagine they aren't mapping the mouse buttons properly at the time you map them. Since all this app does is change two prefs in the Dock.plist (which don't affect either Spaces, Dashboard or Expose) and then reboots the Dock (which will also restart Expose, Dashboard and Spaces), obviously the logitech drivers are't saving the mouse button mapping to the plist file, assuming that the dock hardly ever gets restarted.

Apologies for this, but there's not much I can do to stop Logitech not writing drivers properly; the app has to restart the dock to get it to reflect your changes.

Sorry.

BENTEK  This works fine for the bottom feeders. However, for those that prefer the sidewinder, 2D is our only option. Your tool did not work for me. I'm hoping this can be changed. I should also mention that I enjoy start pinning.

Please, I really need your help. Just because a bunch of cry babies yelled, Apple changed the Dock in mid stream. Why didn't they just provide a button in the Prefs???? We haven't seen any changes in the Prefs for Dock since 10.3.

That said, thank you for attempting to correct this. Keep it up. please pardon my ventÂ…

MATH CAMPBELL  Yeah, I'm sorry about that. See, what this does is re-write the prefs file for the Dock. Sadly, it appears that when the dock is moved to the side, the dock ignores the "no-glass" setting and uses the 2D style dock, whether you like it or not. Sadly, I doubt there is anything we can do about that, unless you go through the Dock executable with a hex editor and delete/change the section required. Otherwise I'm afraid it's either the glass dock, or a side dock. Not both.
