DESCRIPTION
PlugSuit is a plug-in manager that allows many InputManager and SIMBL-style plug-ins to work, even in Apple's new operating system.
Important warning:
PlugSuit replaces SIMBL. Do not use them together. Choose one and use it exclusively. If SIMBL is installed, PlugSuit will automatically do nothing to preserve stability.

- Minor bugfixes.
- Experimental Carbon support.
- Supports Afloat 2.1.1.

LEOOFBORG Plugsuit shows some promise. What it should be really useful for is turning on/off such things as SafariStand, Keyword Manager and other SIMBL based plugins to isolate bugs. And for the most part it does this. To disable SIMBL, go to /Library/Input Managers/ and zip up/throw SIMBL in the trash.. THEN restart and install PlugSuit. There. Fixed that for you. I have found some issues. * PlugSuit doesn't always run at login time. Meaning 'Hey, WhereTF is SafariStand?? *Sigh* Go to Preferences and fire it up. * SIMBL plugins load sluggishly. Run iPhoto.. huh? Where's KeyWo... oh. There it is. * Some plugins don't work at all or load rarely. I'm looking at you, Blurminal. My advice is to keep a zipped copy of SIMBL in where you found it. However, I am beginning to like Afloat. If the author adds a menu item to tell us that PlugSuit is 'on' that might be a nice think to do. Also, finer control of keyboard shortcuts so as not to conflict with Butler, MercuryMover, etc. In other words, better status display and finer control of prefs. (Version 1.5.7)

KOSOVAR1 I really appreciate the people who write software and offer it without charge for others use and enjoyment. However, I have to say it's rather stupid to write a piece of software and not provide any accompanying literature that explains how to use it. Are we supposed to be born with this knowledge? Not even the developer's web site explains such questions as 1.) How to disable SIMBL (whatever the heck that is) so that Plugsuit can take over, or 2.) Where does one locate the plugins and which type of plugins apply? I have tried various plugins that I've locate in /library or ~/library, but none of these can be loaded. Come on guys, I've wasted a lot of time fooling with this useless (to me) software and now I have to uninstall it. Why not a few simple lines of instruction on how this works. (Geez, this is like trying to take a vacation in Italy and, as usual, nothing's working or makes any sense!) (Version 1.5.7)

LEOOFBORG Kosovar1, I have to sympathize with the dev, most of them would rather code than write up docs. And you're getting this for free. SIMBL's docs tell you how to de-install it, and where you should put plugins. That is at culater.net, not at this dev's website. That being said, read my comment above, as well as the docs of any of the SIMBL plugins that you have installed. You can also go into PlugSuit's prefPane to see which plugins are controlled and which are not. HINT: In the prefPane, use the 'Gear' button and 'Reveal Extender in Finder' to see where you have the plugin installed. I would then move it out of your User and into the /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/ path. But that's just me. I don't like stuff all over the place. (Version 1.5.7)

MMDDTMP Horrible piece of code. Crashed every single app on Leopard Mac OS X 10.5. I had to disable it first and then install it by starting the AFloat installer. Don't install this malware !! Mac should add two easy shortuct like Zoom. Are there any Monkeys at Mac usability center? :) (Version 1.5.6)

MACSTERDAM I've given this another try, and fair's fair, it's working flawlessly now! Absolutely wonderful. Plugins I currently use with PlugSuit are: SafariStand, MegaZoomer, Stumbi, Leech and WebSnapper. To be completely honest, I do feel PlugSuit is not as "snappy" as Simbl, but to be completely syre of this, I'll need to test PlugSuit for a longer period of time. (Version 1.5.6)

TEORIC The installation program gives me only the option to install locally; since 1.5.6, it has given me a warning that I my local drive is not the system drive (filevault is activated). PlugSuit indeed does not work. Moving the PlugSuit from ~/Library/PreferencePanes to /Library/PreferencePanes (i.e. the system-wide directory) makes PlugSuit work. As long as this option has not been included in the installer, this is a work-around. (Otherwise, I like PlugSuit very much – especially being able to switch plug-ins on and off!) (Version 1.5.6)

SHANE C SMITH This is a much needed application, although I do have one complaint. If your already running SIMBL, PlugSuit has no option to take over SIMBL plugin's installed and uninstall SIMBL. This is my only feature request. I'm not the most technical person and there are very little instructions that come with this program. If this option was their it would be 5 stars all around... or at least 4 :) (Version 1.5.5)

F451 This plugin is both misunderstood and maligned mostly by those who have not read the statement on Infinite Labs website that clearly states you must either run SIMBL of PlugSuit, but NOT bothŃyou must choose which one to use and delete the other. Another issue is that plug-ins that run on SIMBL typically reloads SIMBL so you have to be cognizant of this occurring and check to determine whether SIMBL has been reinstalled as this will lead to problems. I use File Buddy to check whether SIMBL has been reinstalled. BTW, 1Password ceased using SIMBL eons ago so if you are running a newer version of 1Password there is no need for SIMBL as Agile Web Solutions decided to be independent of SIMBL. Used correctly PlugSuit is very informative, and works very well with more control over the plug-ins that PlugSuit can monitor. PlugSuit was there during the Leopard transition when SIMBL was not...sadly many are not thankful of this fact and have quickly forgotten the Leopard transition history. For my purposes PlugSuit is vastly better than SIMBL, although I have deep appreciation for both SIMBL and PlugSuit. (Version 1.5.5)

MISTERSQUID This software seems practically engineered to destabilized your system, and users should be warned away from a developer who would release a piece of software that would cause what happened to this user. (Version 1.5.5)

MACSTERDAM which the developer's site would have a list as to which simbl plugin works with this and which doesn't. Just gave this another go, only to find 1password doesn't work. wasted a lot of time there. (Version 1.5.5)
