MERRIMAC  Hmmm... I spent over an hour trying to get this to run (on Leopard / PPC). At first it wouldn't open at all. Then I looked under the hood and found some documentation files with a few hints on what to do if the app won't run. So I finally got it to start, but it immediately crashes upon start. I've downloaded a lot of apps from Macupdate, but this is the first one that I couldn't get to run at all. But it sounds like it would have some useful features if it worked.

DTROTTER  It is interesting that other applications that read eBooks and PDF files are significantly smaller (like 2 megs) instead of 36. That is HUGE for a reader, not to mention that it only runs on 10.4 and higher.

MINIWARK  It's possible to install the Application after a Licence agrement review. But thats all.

At startup you only have a mandatory login screen who require an account at cafescribe.com.

- no help file about the program (and about cafescribe)

- an internet connection is MANDATORY

- no way to register from the software

- no way to test without acount

- no way to quit if you don't want to register

Apparently cafescribe is a paid service to bye e-books, but it's not possible to test it without account.

MCDAN333  I'm sure this is a very nice and useful application, but despite the assertion that "It can function both online and offline", I couldn't do anything with it (not even quit!) until I logged in. I had to force quit it.

At least it has a pretty icon...

TONYINLONDON  Yes, same here (10.4.10/MacBook 2GHz, if it's relevant). You launch the app, to be presented with a login screen which wants you to log in to something at cafescribe.com, whatever that may be (to which you're directed if you click on the "Forgotten your password" link). The Quit menu item's greyed out, as is the Help menu item, so Force Quit is my friend. There's nothing about this being a client for some server, in fact " It can function both online and offline" says the exact opposite. This is either broken or the description's missing some essential points.

Trash can, I think.
