DESCRIPTION
Syphone is a freeware Macintosh utility for use with the Apple's iPhone. The program installs on your Macintosh and does not alter the iPhone in any way. This application allows you to view, save, and back up your SMS messages. With Syphone you can now archive and view SMS conversations, including those that have been deleted from the iPhone.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 0.99b11;
  • Connecting and disconnecting a phone without syncing with iTunes no longer causes a crash.
  • iPhones with the same name but different serial numbers are now available in the UI and work as expected.
  • Resizing the Syphone window no longer causes odd splash screen behavior.
  • The helper application should no longer enter a CPU-intensive state when not syncing or otherwise doing work.

    DAVID S  Syphone is outdated. It does not work with iPhoneOS3. Micromat does not intend to further development om this software.

    JKB4  Well, since iTunes 8.1, it no longer syncs properly.

    I'm interested in developing a competing product that actually works, but I'd love feedback on features missing in Syphone that you'd like to see added to a new one.

    KRIONI  Working for me - Mac OS X 10.5.6, iPhone 2.2

    Syphone is great, and it still works here. I wish it had a feature to export ALL messages, rather tahn one number at a time, but I'm glad we've got something.

    ZOFO  Works perfectly! Just remember to TURN OFF "launch helper application" in the Preferences.

    If it wasn't for this hickup, it woulda been 5 stars

    MACRACHEL  Excellent! And free! I initially had the "No iPhones found" error that appears common. I followed the advice on the related forum on the Micromat site, including unchecking "Run helper app in the background" in the preferences. I had to quit and restart several times, and I'm not sure exactly which fiddling did the trick, but eventually I launched the app and saw all my conversations, including the ones my daughter had deleted since my last sync. Fabulous! It is a delight to be able to easily and quickly generate a PDF of a year's worth of text messages.

    MUDFLAPPER  Not that it's mentioned anywhere that it DOES work with Leopard beta 9A559, just letting you know that it doesn't.

    The main screen shows my name and number, but under that it states "No iPhones found!"

    Rats. Any tips?
