    MACSOLU  PolyBlog,

I was presented with an offer to automatically update from 2.0.9 to 2.0.10 a few months ago via the built-in software update mechanism, and it downloaded and works fine. But as of this moment, their web site is not mentioning that 2.0.10 is current -- I don't know why. And the built-in software update now constantly returns an error message. I suspect that maybe the developer(s) are either abandoning this product or there's some other form of trouble to the point that this software is not being actively developed/supported.

RUSKIWI  Works just as advertised! I was able to back up my Windows 7 partition, restore it, and the partition is NTFS format. Same for Windows XP - backup and restore was a breeze. I had a relatively small install (under 15GB) so it took less than half an hour to restore, which is far better than installing Windows from scratch.

    Great price, thanks!

RICKSNAPP  I had been looking for something to make a Windows partition portable since I first loaded Boot Camp on my Mac. Windows installation is always painful. The thought of having to sit through that process whenever I needed to move/resize partitions is not appealing by any means.

I heard of Winclone by accident but didn't hesitate to download it and try it. It is now possible to backup & restore a Windows partition in a much less painful manner. Once you have installed Widnows once, Winclone allows you to backup and restore that partition on a different partition or even a different computer.

It does want the partition that is being restored to be at least as big as the original, even if most of the disk space in the source partition was unused. If you can't create a partition big enough to hold the image created, there is a shrink partition utility available that will shrink the image to just a little larger than the actual used file space. This makes it possible to actually size a partition down to what is needed. Nice touch!

For features and utility I give this program high marks. My only complaint would be the amount of time that the save/restore process can take. I imaged 144Gb from a 300Gb partition. The image creation took somwhere between 8-10 hours. Restoring that partition took about 8 hours. This is not a great time saving, but it is WAY better than spending that time configuring Windows and the applications that are running under it...

NEVC  I came across this program accidentally but within 10 Minutes of downloading and installing this program I had to use it to reinstall my Vista boot camp partition, worked like a charm and in 10 Minutes was back up and running.

CRYPTO7  Version 2.0.6 is out, and it rocks. Without this I could not have backed up my Win XP volume into 1 image file like you can with HFS/HFS+ volumes and bombich's carbon copy cloner (another highly recommended backup app). Unfortunately it does not work under 10.4.x.

JFIELDS  Current version 1.6.6 locks up my MacBook Pro when the image is 98.85% done. Tried twice no joy. Previous versions have been great though.
