DESCRIPTION
BusySync allows multiple users to share and edit iCal calendars on a local area network and sync iCal with Google Calendar. BusySync is a Mac OS X System Preference Pane that runs in the background and adds calendar sharing capabilities to iCal. Leveraging Apple Sync Services and Bonjour, calendar events created in iCal are instantly synchronized with other iCal users on the network and with Google Calendar.

- Offline access - Changes made to a calendar while disconnected from your home or office network are automatically synchronized when you reconnect to the network.

WINTERSMITH The product itself works well. It fills a puzzling feature gap in iCal, and gets the job done. The price is nuts. More politely put, it's both deceptive and out of touch. First, it's not actually $25it's $50, and that's if you're content to sync calendars on a measly TWO machines. I think 3 or 4 machines combined at home and work is pretty average for users most likely to be interested in this utility, but that takes the price up to $75$100. And no, there's no discount until the 5-licenses mark. 10% off if you spend $125 to $225 for a shareware utility. Gee, thanks dad! When you consider that $90 will get you Adobe Photoshop Elements and $80 will buy a new 4GB iPod Shuffle, it's difficult to understand why BusyMac would insist on a price like this.

DJC0 I have an iMac, and Air and an iPhone. I have BusySync installed on the iMac and use MobileMe to keep all my iCal's in step. Hence i only need one BusySync license. True, i needed MobileMe to do this (at ~$99/year), but there are a number of cheap or free ways to sync iCal calendars to give the same effect. The beauty of BusySync is that it syncs between **Google Calendar and iCal**, something that's much harder to do without grief. And BusySync has done this seamlessly, for me at least. I'm very happy to have purchased it, and i highly recommend it.

LEE123 weird, my ical and google calendar sync fine. There are instructions on google on how to set it up and its not hard.

ANDREWM $25 per computer??? For syncing utility, regardless how good, is simply unacceptable. I use 4 different macs at home and buying 4 licenses for $100 is not what I will do. $25 per home network would be a different story and fully justifiable. All those "OH's" and "AH's" here with 3 to 5 star ratings smell fishy to me too.

EVAL Site seems to be down yesterday and today. Weird. This is the simplest and most reliable way to sync calendars among users on a network. It is expensive relative to the competition though.

DOOBIEXX True more expensive but feature list is much longer than competitors. Depending on your needs you can go with a good free sync app or get busycal and have an all in one ical. Like the dev says it's ical on steroids. Personally I think it is worth the money, especially since it is a one and done cal app which suites my needs. It is fully functional shareware for 30 days though so you get a chance to see if it is worth the $30 they are asking. Remember this is still in beta! Can only get better, unless circumstances the dev can't control prevent further development but I don't think that is the case. I like the app, I like it in conjunction with ideskcal, calendar apps are a hard thing to choose and pay for, each app has it's ups and downs but this seems to have more up's than down's... Good post though man. Definitely points out the big issue of price. +1 from me.

ARCTOS I used the trial version, and it was nice & handy. Now, spending a bit of time w/google calendar & the iCal > Preferences > accounts > add account (+), I'm not sure where I see the value in this app at $25.00 US per computer. Yes, the google calendars mean that you have to have a new account for each sub-calendar in google, but, I've saved myself $50.00, I still have security (my google calendars are not public). Hence the shorter stars. Yes, we all need to make a living, but, there are other options out there for those willing to spend the time. ODYSSEUS You don't get it. BusySync makes possible over-the-air syncing of Google calendars AND subscribed calendars via MobileMe to the iPhone. It isn't possible otherwise.

MOLAMOLA Google Calendars synced to iCal are Read Only when you sync them to the iPhone which means you can not enter / change anything using your iPhone. So in case you use an iPhone and want to use the free google calender instead of a terribly expensive mobile me subscription to get a Mac/iphone and Web based calendar solution, BusySync will pay of after just 3 months (compared to subscribing to mobile me). So it makes perfect sense to me, at least as long as Apple does'nt provide a way to make google calender items writable on the iPhone. | |

SPICELMF http://blog.busymac.com/blog/2008/12/google-caldav-versus-busysync.html BusySync put up that comparison. I actually don't use BusySync yet but I plan to download the demo now. I was very hyped up about Google's iCal support, then I realized it only pulls your gCal down to iCal. Personally, I use iCal and would like those calendars to be pushed up to gCal. I'd basically have to delete and recreate all my calendars for this to work. Not to mention for some reason all the calendars are broken up under their each "folder". For example my appointments calendar is under Google:Appointments.. why? Call me OCD but I find it annoying.

IVANOVITCH Works like a charm, especially now that the repeating items bug is sorted out. It's worth every cent, even for a group of users. Whilst there are free alternatives available, this offers a more comprehensive suite of tools in a better interface, and the ability to retrieve backups is a deal-maker. The developers are responsive, and helpful - making the app even more useful and understandable (setup is a bit confusing because there are numerous options). All in all, great value, and a 'set-and-forget' app that does what it promises.

CHRISTOPHERMSCOTT This app is simply awesome. I have been using it for over two months and have had almost no problems with it. The one problem I did have was almost instantly resolved via customer support. I highly recommend this especially after using SpanningSync

WINCO Magnificent! Just Works. Well done chaps! When it doesn't work, sent a 'help' email to the chaps at BusySync and overnight they will provide a solution/answer. Brilliant! Not their issue. My issue. On my Macs. Their logging software provides them with the reason you may have technical issues. They ask you to email them you BusySync logs and they come back with an answer on how to solve the issue. What else could one want. Spiffing solution. Works. Works. Works. Works. Buy. Buy. Buy. Buy.
