DESCRIPTION

Drumatix 606 is a software drum machine and bassline sequencer, using Roland TR 606, 909, 808, 707, LinnDrum and Amen Brother samples. You can make your own drum tracks for use in any production you want! You make beats like you would with an original Roland TR606 or 808 and then save or load them for later use.

If you're stuck for ideas, then just check out the song packs! We've given you five groovy patterns to get you started and your imagination flowing.

And if you want to get the closest you can to the real thing, then you can use your normal keyboard! You can hide your screen if you want and operate Drumatix with just the keyboard!<

ANONYMOUS  To any users to Drumatix or people considering downloading; I advise not downloading Drumatix 2.5.

No, nothing's wrong with it, but it's been a year or two since I worked on this and there are some horrible errors I've made, looking back on the source code.

I'm working on Drumatix 3, the aim being speed optimisation, better interface design and custom patches. I'm still working on a way to export beats to audio files, but it's very difficult.

The new website for Drumatix is the Halcyon Digital Research forums. I've only just bought the hosting, so expect it's own page soon (i.e. probably in the not too distant future :P)

CAPPIELS   it is like something that could have been done as an intro to programming project.

bothering with it is a waste of your time... don't do it. you've been warned.

check this out for something free and much much cooler:

JAMES STAFFORD  I decided to use some keys that I thought of myself.

You need to read the tutorial if you want to find out which keys do what.

    Cheers!

JAMES STAFFORD  Hi! Sorry about no updates for two weeks or so! I've been busy with school, friends and girls B) you know the drill..!

At the moment, Drumatix is going through something which will fundamentally change the entire way that you make patterns. The new version supports keyboard controls - so you can program beats, change instruments etc with your keyboard providing mouseless control (except with pattern saving, once I've worked it out then you'll get a release)

Thing is, I need help on where to put the keys. There's not a row of 16 buttons on this keyboard, so I really NEED your help! Where will the programming buttons go?

Eventually I'll be customising keyboards so that they have specific controls just for Drumatix, so in theory it WILL be a drum machine... The plans will be made public and modified software will be available, I'll just build them for you if you wish. This will happen as I'm doing it for a school project anyway :D

    Cheers!

JAMES STAFFORD  Hi there! Are you using Intel or PPC? It's a little choppy on Intels. I'll remedy this eventually.

MUSUBANA  This app should be universal, but works quite OK with Rosetta on Intel macs.

This is a VERY basic drum machine, where you highlight the beats on a single line. When playing, a ”loading bar” roams across the screen. It looks lousy.

(But hey, it’s the sound that matters, right?)

    My main objection is:

when you switch instrument, there is NO WAY to see which beats are being played by other instruments. The beat line simply becomes unmarked again. If you for example want two instruments to play at the same beat, you have to guess where that beat is – or use your ear really good.

This could have been acceptable in a PC program, but on a Mac I’d expect something graphically more advanced.

Sorry. Try MrDrum or Breakage, they’re free too.

JAMES STAFFORD  Hi there! Thanks for the review :)

I'm not sure if you've ever used a TR 606, but they work in pretty much the same way as the application - you press buttons where you want the sound and hit run. I've seen a TR 606 in action, and they switch instrument in almost the same way as Drumatix, difference being that you twist knobs on a 606. The whole point is that it's a very basic drum machine like the TR series that Roland produced :)

And I will agree with you, the graphics really are pants... I'll definitely work on this as soon as I can, and I wasn't too sure about the loading bar either.

Thanks for your input, it's appreciated!

MUSUBANA  No, I haven’t tried the original TR 606.

    I see your point…
