DESCRIPTION

JollysFastVNC is a VNC client which aims to become the best VNC client on the Mac. When I started ScreenRecycler I thought that there are enough VNC clients out there to support it. When the program started to get useful I realized that the VNC clients available on the Mac were pretty slow and people were complaining about the speed of ScreenRecycler. I was using VNCThing at the time which proved to be acceptable on PPC Macs but does not run on Intel Macs. Without a proper viewer people can't access ScreenRecycler in a way I imagined. So I started programming JollysFastVNC to enable people using ScreenRecycler. As I got a few mails about the VNC capabilities of JollysFastVNC I decided to enhance the program to be a fully functional VNC client. It's still in the early stages of development, even though somewhat usable and fast.

Use the applications about box to mail me problem as I do not read the comments here.

SWEEDIGEL  By far, very far, the best VNC client on Mac OS platform. Thank you Patrick for it.

I had a dream : a VNC server written by the same author.

-------------------

De très loin le meilleur client VNC sur plateforme Mac OS.

J'ai fais un rêve : un serveur VNC écrit par le même auteur.

SANTEGO  Have been using this to access Ubuntu's "Remote Desktop" over the web. Works excellent, very fast, and desktop scales to the screen size nicely.

Had to disable "extra visual effects" in Ubuntu for redraws to act properly, but this is a Linux issue not a Jolly issue.

RIPPYZ  I used to use Chicken of the VNC and although it worked, it does not refresh unless the app is active, and even when it is active, the refresh is choppy. I set out the find a different VNC client and gave JollyFastVNC a shot. It is easier to set up then Chicken and has faster refresh rate.

I also like the new icon, the lens inside the telescope shows the current desktop pic and will update accordingly if you set your desktop pic to change. Great attention to detail.

Since I have just one other computer to connect to at home, I would like to be able to either reduce the server list window, or close it entirely and establish connection via the contextual menu for the dock icon. Although the app is pretty awesome as is now.

GIRAFFE6044  This is defiantly the best VNC client for Mac. The reverse vnc support is perfect for helping mom fix her computer (without having to spend an hour walking her through opening ports in her router).

Only request i would have is for a quick connection option. so i dont have to create a profile to access a server each and every time. just a simple entry field where i can type in address:port and hit enter to connect.

XENOPHON  Silly question, but here goes: can you please enable the old dock icon. This new one is too gothic for my taste. Again, sorry for the silly request.

With greetings from Athens.

WARD  I used Chicken of the VNC for a long time ... until I started experiencing chronic dropped connections, sometimes after 5 minutes, usually after 15-20 minutes.

My search last December for an alternative led me to JollysFastVNC. What a dramatic improvement! I don't recall a single dropped connection since then.

The few times I've corresponded with Jolly (aka Patrick), he's very quick with a helpful response. For example, I just asked about Snow Leopard compatibility, and he responded with good news ("It is compatible.") before I had time to get a fresh cup of coffee.

MMUECK  I'm a time traveller from 10 years in the future and I'm stuck here until I can repair my broken time machine. Anyway, I'm having issues with version 0.99.99.97.401 and can't connect to my computer back home. Eagerly awaiting the next pre-release version...

GRANDLEPTON  The version 0.98.40 eats more than 100% CPU even at idle on my MBP, 10.5.8. I have to restore 0.98.38.

JOLLY AKA PATRICK  Well that should not happen. Send me a mail with the logs if possible. Furthermore - does it use the cpu when not the front application.

It's a known apple bug that the pulsating button eats up idle cpu and it looks like the program would use cpu like hell even though it's not.
