DESCRIPTION

JollysFastVNC is a VNC client which aims to become the best VNC client on the Mac. When I started ScreenRecycler I thought that there are enough VNC clients out there to support it. When the program started to get useful I realized that the VNC clients available on the Mac were pretty slow and people were complaining about the speed of ScreenRecycler. I was using VNCThing at the time which proved to be acceptable on PPC Macs but does not run on Intel Macs. Without a proper viewer people can't access ScreenRecycler in a way I imagined. So I started programming JollysFastVNC to enable people using ScreenRecycler. As I got a few mails about the VNC capabilities of JollysFastVNC I decided to enhance the program to be a fully functional VNC client. It's still in the early stages of development, even though somewhat usable and fast.

Use the applications about box to mail me problem as I do not read the comments here.

E_COMMERCE  Odd - when I connect to a computer with fullscreen as the default, the mouse position is incorrect (mouse is actually off on upper right, Jolly has it at lower left, for instance). Leaving fullscreen fixes it, and switching back to fullscreen remains fixed. However, logging in directly to fullscreen will always mess up the mouse position. It's almost like it's not adjusting the initial mouse position on the server end to match where it is on the client end (but this is just a guess).

This has happened for the last several mini updates; I'm not sure when exactly it began. :(

KEVIN_C  Works OK as long as the remote port is 5900. Anything other than 5900 on the remote host fails to connect.

MACFR3AK  I love this software but there's something I really missed since a while though :

The displayed splashscreen allowing me either to update or not at each new releases !

Please re-enable it ! ;)

Anyway, great work and keep up the good job !

ROBACKJA  Both 0.96.90 and 0.96.92 are slow and unusable compared to 0.96.86. The network transfers alone are went from 30kb/s to 300kb/s (using tight encoding). I wish I could go back to old version.

Also, screen resizing, I should be able to hold "shift" or something and keep the screen aspect ratio, otherwise everything is all distorted.

ROBACKJA  Let me correct myself. I apologize. I tried using only "tight low bandwidth" and apparently the GNOME remote desktop VNC server (vino) doesn't support that, so it defaulted to RAW probably. I enabled all possible encodings and my 30k/s on 1920x1200 display is back!

I still hold strong on my screen resizing issue...

JRWMAC  This MacUpdate page says this is version 0.96.86

The download button says: 0.96.90

The downloaded file to my Mac is: 0.96.92

I can't find Jollysfast Ver.0.96.86 anywhere on the net.

NOTE: With 0.96.86, at least my Option and Control keys worked to my remote Mac. With 0.96.92, this version has broke those keys and will not work.

My Command key, to my remote Mac has not worked for months.

I like Jollysfast, but I need my Command, Option & Control keys back PLEASE!

Also... This new version, 0.96.92 is slower. I use OSX 10.5.4 on a MacBook Pro Intel Mac.

BILLINDG  Very good performance both on LAN and WAN. It is convenient to have SSH tunneling built-in rather than having to set the tunnel up in the Terminal. Very stable for me. Even on crappy hotel internet connections, I get useful performance when logging back to my home computer.

KELICHI  Fastest VNC client (especially on WAN)

Allows multiple VNC sessions (wish CotVNC could do that)

User interface is not too good - Can't just create an on demand connection.

If only cut&paste works (within VNC desktop and between VNC/Mac Desktop), I would use this all the time.

THREEDEE912  Nice and fast VNC client for Macs. Much faster than CotVNC. Only thing (slightly) bad about it is the interface which could use a little work.
