- Fixed the contents of folders not being displayed under OS 10.4.11.
Version 1.2:
- Added Twitter as a Share This option for articles.
- The database will now optimize itself on quit once every 7 days.
- Check at start-up will no longer check feeds set to check manually.
- The list of enclosures will is no longer shown when viewing permalink content.
- Added an new check interval, Explicit. These feeds will only be checked if the feed is explicitly told to refresh. It is not included with the the other manual check options.
- Video enclosures now have their own download option in preferences.
- Enclosures are now put into subfolders based on their feed.
- Stop fetching now cancels enclosure downloads as well as feed checking.
- Limited the levels of sorting to prevent some reordering issues while reading articles.
- The feed window will now commit any outstanding edits when the window is closed.
- Fixed a parser issue if an author or category started with a &.
- Fixed an issue with the Fetch Info option for feeds.
- Fixed an issue with deleting when searching with no folder selected.
- Fixed an issue with accented characters in feeds with a Latin1 encoding.
- Fixed a display issue that resulted from deleting a feed and then restarting.
- Fixed a display bug that could cause feeds to still appear in the feed list after being deleted.

FLASH1296 Greed is the name of the game, when you charge twice what an application is worth. There are plenty of fine alternatives, several that are free.

INFOSEC I purchased this app today after testing a bunch of them. I like how the filters, labels, auto rating, and smart filters features work together. If you have a lot of feeds then it may take a little time up front to configure those four things to take "full" advantage of them. However, once you do that you will see how this app outshines the others and does the best job of organizing the feeds and providing view options that boil the information of interest to the top. There are many features with this app, you have the option to be in total control of what is going on and how to manipulate the data. In my opinion the only negative thing I can say about this application that documentation needs to be expanded. I expressed this to the developer and he very quickly responded and advised they are currently in the process of providing additional documentation. If you try this app take the time to understand all of the features and how nicely the the label, filter, auto rating, and smart filters can work together to present the the feeds in a very efficient and effective manner. Even thought there are some free alternatives I felt that unique features, stability, speed, responsiveness of the development team regarding questions, and logical workflow all made this product worth $30.

STUPBI I've been sceptical about cyndicate at first. Why another RSS reader? Even a paid one? I tried it and found one feature there is only to find in one other RSS reader which is postino. It's the ability to read the news instantly when choosing an article - not just switch to an preview and no more need to open the news in tabs or even the browser. Up to now netnewswire, vienna etc. lacks this specific feature. Besides cyndicate is fast, faster then postino, same as fast as netnewswire or vienna. I hope the account for former pulpfiction user will be encouraging.

STUPBI This surely looks very very close to the past rss reader pulpfiction. In Fact it uses almost every icon and design pulpfiction used - except the app icon itself (see comment below). I wonder if cyndicate will accept my pulpfiction license key. I also wonder if cyndicate will offer the style sheets that where once available for pulpfiction. There was one which made the website load direct inside the preview window instead inside the default browser app. Anyway there sould be a statement concerning the former pulpfiction users.

IACAS Cyndicate will not accept your PulpFiction license key, no. PulpFiction users will likely get a discount - we've yet to decide how much. We will decide before the demo's 21 days pass. Cyndicate uses none of PulpFiction's assets - code, icons, etc. Naturally there is a resemblance, as the people behind it are the same, and it follows the same model. As for stylesheets, Cyndicate switched up the model a bit. You can visit http://forums.cynicalpeak.com/viewtopic.php?id=196 to find out how to make compatible stylesheets for Cyndicate - it should be relatively easy to convert your PF stylesheet. However, it sounds like the feature you're looking for is one for which you don't need a stylesheet at all (and didn't in PF either) - you simply set all of your subscriptions to display the "permalink content" rather than the "feed content" and the website will load in the article viewer. You can toggle this at any time, per-article, with cmd-D.

CYNCIAL PEAK SOFTWARE Please get your facts straight before publicly slandering a company. Adam was never threatened with a lawsuit. There was a falling out over him not finishing the project that he agreed to do. Try using google to get the full story.

ADAM BETTS Hi Developer, I was hoping you to be a little more honest about the situation. It was clearly implied that there would be a lawsuit however as it turns out, it was nothing more than an attempt to instill fear. As for the product, Cyndicate is a great app with nice interface and I encourage other people to give it a try.

JOEL MUELLER Another blog post, written by Erik Barzeski, explains his side of the story: http://nslog.com/2007/03/06/adam_betts Erik says that the only mention of a lawyer involved was when he offered Adam a 3rd option: to get a lawyer himself if he wants payment. But that doesn't really fit in with a resolution like the first 2 options, so I wouldn't consider it a third option. In fact, I'm not even sure why Erik would mention that to Adam. If the context was that Adam get a lawyer for _defense_, that wouldn't make sense either, because no one goes and gets an attorney until after they have received notice from the group making the charges. Adam states that he didn't complete the project, using two reasons in different posts: (1) "There is a reason why I cannot continue and I can't tell you why yet....[it has] nothing to do with me doing graphics for any competing products." (2) "this was not a breach of contract but more of 'personally offended.'" So it sounds like a mixture of dealing with relations that were already poor between Erik and Adam, and priority of something else Adam was doing. Overall, it sounds like Adam should have completed the project. And Erik should have handled it more smoothly. I can understand Erik's frustration with the situation, but he sounded pretty harsh in the replies to posted publicly, and even if no law suite was actually threatened, I can understand why Adam would back off even more after communicating with Erik. Erik has since pushed a strong arm decision for MacUpdate to either (1) remove this thread from our site, or (2) remove the Cyndicate product altogether. Obviously, this is starting to snowball and Erik is not making friends by taking such a stance. If I were Brad Miller, the developer of Cyndicate, I might pull the reigns in on this entire situation, before enemies are made all over the place. I say this because I desire good things for Cyndicate.

IACAS This is Erik, and I asked Joel to remove this commentary entirely because it has nothing to do with the product itself. Joel refused to remove the commentary, as is his right, and so that's done. All things considered, the development of the icon is an incredibly small part of the process, and while true that I could have handled things more smoothly, I did not like being put in the position of having a contract broken. It set us back quite awhile and cost us time and effort to find a new icon designer.
