JAKE THE SNAKE  Nice idea.

But I think I'll stick to holding down the OPTION key and just pick which drive I want to start with during a boot up.

GREGM  Intel Only Feature:

One shot boot to another drive, then return to the normal on subsequent boot---

Failed to return on my machine (12" PowerBook, 1.5GHz G4, OS 10.5.8).

Jeremy Knope / Buttered Cat Software responded and confirmed that this does not work on PPC machines.

Nice idea for those of us who do bootable backups and do maintenance from another drive. I guess I'll continue to ride System Preferences/Startup Disk until I eventually replace my Mac

MIG4444  Installed it on MacBook with Snow Leopard 10.6.1, and made it active in the top Finder menu bar. Had it running for about three days and during that time, my menu bar would either be completely transparent, be completely non-existent, be completely unresponsive, or no Finder at all except for the wall paper and the app dock. As soon as I removed it from the Finder menu bar, the computer was back to normal. It looked like it would be a very useful utility, but I think I can do without it to keep my Finder working properly. If anyone has any suggestions how to correct this issue, please post. Thanks.

APPLEHC  Cyberatomic, think twice: I got FileVault and quite a lot of times it will take a couple of minutes to re-boot, since FileVault will compact the Sparse Image at logoff. So I sometimes wait 5 minutes pressing the alt key just to get the boot menu. Quite annoying...

CYBERATOMIC  What makes this worth while when you can just hold down the option key at boot and select the drive you want - then reboot from windows, and the mac defaults to booting back to the mac partition without having to do anything else?

I don't get it, is this for people who are keyboard challenged or something?

NAOH  I can think of a few situations where this may be useful.

One of which is where a machine is being accessed remotely.

Or if it is running headless.

I've also found using the alt key to be tricky, if the keyboard is a Windows style keyboard.

This utility might not have a wide audience, but it can be a time saver.

JEROME  The point is just to make it dead simple and not have to worry about holding down a key, which you can sometimes miss. If you have no problems holding down option then no reason to use this, just a simple alternative really.

GAZMAN  You're complaining about a free application that makes it easier to do something?

I used it this morning to boot up my TechToolPro DVD that I bought through the MacUpdate Promo. Worked a treat.
