TOURNESOL The first keystroke sometimes ignored when typing has not been fixed with the update for MacBooks and MacBook Pros, and Apple has now locked the huge thread about the problem on their forums. I therefore encourage you to sign this partition: http://www.PetitionOnline.com/mbpkeyms/petition.html (Version 1.1)

TOURNESOL Did not fix anything. I just had the Caps lock + Num lock turned on after reboot, and no keys responding issue. Only the numbers on the letter u,i,o,j,k,l,m etc. is working. Annnnnnd I still have the first key not registering bug. This is ridicilous Apple! (Version 1.1)

FLOMET Same for me, this update has not fixed the delay with the first key. Come on Apple fix it please as this is my first experience with a MackBook Pro 8 weeks old and has already been back to the shop for repair with a battery problem that took 8 days to repair . I am a very unsatisfied mac user at the moment. (Version 1.1)

ESPIRIT I have an odd problem with this update. First, it doesn't seem to actually do anything, and secondly (and probably because of the first point) it continually pops up as needing to be installed. I get the software update message every single day saying i need to install this and every single time i download it and it just comes back the next day. Anybody else had this problem? DYRCONA I have a black MacBook (if that matters) and have the same issue. Every time I do a software update, this update is there saying it needs to be installed. If I install it, it looks as though it is being installed, even saying that it is writing out the package receipt. However, next I check for updates, there it is to be installed again. My wife's MacBook (which is newer than mine) does not have this problem. (Version 1.1)

DYRCONA Oh, and I just looked. It shows up as installed twice on my MacBook. (Version 1.1)

JCRAIG All seems good here on 1G MBP 2.0GHz. Seemed to make it boot even faster than it already did. (Version 1.1)

TOMNIBUS I hate the fact that I have a rev A of the MacBook Pro 17". I know, early adopter. But this really sucks that rev B comes out and now there are never ANY updates for mine. Every time there are firmware updates, updates like this and anything else for hardware my machine never gets the update because it was obsolete 6 months after being released. (Version 1.2)

GORDON142 Firmware updates just fix problems, they don't add new features. Apple releases firmware update even to models that were discontinued years ago if there is a specific issue for which an update is needed. Why do you think your firmware needs an update? (Version 1.2)
| Nov 2 2007 |
PEDRO FARDILHA You should be happy hat there's no need of firmware updates for your macbook pro, that means it was already stable when it was built!! (Version 1.2)

ESPIRIT God cry more. I have a 2.33 C2D 15" which is going on 11 months old, and now even the lowly macbook has a higher RAM capacity and is cheaply configurable with much larger HD's AND has a faster FSB! Its how technology works. If you, today, bought a brand new, top of the line, 2.6GHz 17" MBP with the higher resolution display, etc etc you would be saying the exact same thing 6 months from now! Be happy with what you have. If it isn't enough for you, then sell it and buy a new one. If you can't, then read the sentence before last again. And like the others said, being "left out" is a good thing in this case. Firmware updates like this aren't just for fun, they are fixing problems with the current revision. Why would you WANT problems which needed fixing? If there aren't any issues, you should be glad and snicker at the wait-and-see'ers who have had issues which make updates such as this necessary. PETER DA SILVA This isn't about "waah, my laptop's not bleeding edge any more". It's about "my laptop's not getting supported any more". I also have the original Macbook Pro, and there are issues with the graphics and stability. Could they be fixed by firmware changes, or by software changes? I don't know, but it's unlikely they're going to be. (Version 1.2)
| Nov 2 2007 |
TOMNIBUS Exactly, Peter Da Silva, it's not that it's not bleeding edge anymore, it's that as soon as the newer version comes out, the older versions aren't supported anymore. (Version 1.2)
| Nov 3 2007 |
PEDRO FARDILHA Ok, let me put it this way: Was your MacBook Pro crashing for unknown reasons? If not, you should follow that old and wise rule: "If it ain't broke don't try to fix it!!" (Version 1.2)
| Nov 3 2007 |
PETER DA SILVA Um "yes". Definitely, that would be "yes". (Version 1.2)

LEE123 I have a first gen mbp 15" and software update installed the update. So I would guess that your computer REALLY does not need this update. (Version 1.1)
| Dec 18 2007 |
LINKSTER82 Actually, no on several counts. The fact that Apple is not releasing new firmware updates for your revision A 17" neither means it is no longer "bleeding edge", nor does it mean that apple is no longer supporting it. It means that there are no known issues that blanket the revision (a few anomalous computers with issues does not mean the whole revision is bad, therefore requiring a fix) and therefore nothing to fix. you should be happy there are no firmware updates because that means they finally got it right. (Version 1.1)
| Dec 18 2007 |
LINKSTER82 also, as long as you can call into apple and they don't tell you your computer is no longer supported, it's supported. chances are, if it can run the latest version of the operating system, it's supported. (Version 1.1)

JOEDOELV Somehow Software Update do offer me to install this patch again and again. Done 3 times, there is .dom file in /Library/Receipts , but SU still do offer it. I have MBP Core 2 Duo (2,2 late 2006). (Version 1.1)
