DESCRIPTION

iTunesFS allows you to mount the "iTunes Music Library.xml" file and all your iPods as a file system, using the excellent MacFUSE.

All playlists are exposed as directories, with their respective entries. Order of tracks within the playlists is maintained by prefixing the tracks with their playlist index.

WHAT'S NEW
While reviewing some code, I noticed that I totally forgot implementing hierarchical playlists, which are possible in later iTunes versions. It was pretty easy (10 minutes work) to implement, so grab version 1.1.10 (released 2009-01-30) while it's hot. ;-)
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.5 or later, iTunes, MacFUSE 2.0.3.2 or later.

CLAUCLAU  "Thanks" to Macupdate going towards the worst of search methods, I had to reach this application again by typing ipodview and browsing to other software suggested...

I miss the 2005 version of this website. So much.

PS: I am a daily user of MU.

LOUNGE DELUXE  I emailed the developer because I had an small issue with iTunesFS, and even though I am the only one experiencing this issue the developer send me an updated version that totally addressed this issue. How about that for support on a free app!

iTunes FS mounts your iTunes library and any attached iPod as a volume in Finder, and that's all there is to say because it works flawlessly. Don't expect a fancy GUI, because you simply don't need it! This app is a computer lifesaver to me, and I would suggest to the developer to make iTunesFS donation-ware and implement this the same friendly way as Carbon Copy Cloner does for instance. iTunesFS is the choice over a lot of commercial apps for backing up iPod and iTunes content. Recommended!

WALKI-TALKI.COM  Not all applications that run on top of Google MacFUSE are perfect yet, but they are all highly functional and incredibly practical. This one ranks as a phenomenal one. The absolutely simplest way to access data on your iPod. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The other app that I highly recommend is MacFusion.

STRIDER72  Just for the record -- MacFUSE is *not* a Google product. It is however hosted on Google Code, as are many open-source projects.
