NOVACTAVY_GMAIL.COM The best app of it's kind. i could not find anything better. It would be great if a future soft render option will be added! There are many font and encoding (more then enough languages) options. A little slow but that's QuickTime! I f you need your videos on almost any device then you should buy it. Nice work!!! POIKKEUS If your movie has a video and an .srt file, Submerge makes it easy to merge them so that the result can be seen on your iPod Touch. From start to finish, processing should take no more than three or four minutes. The result: a movie with nicely contrasted subtitles that you can watch "on the road." The software is intuitive and easy to use. If you're starting with a 800mb file, expect the subbed movie to be around 1.4 gigs. For that reason, you might want to reduce the size of the movie to 320 x 176; this effectively halves its size on your portable device. iSquint or VisualHub are excellent solutions (if you can get a copy), and they're what I use. An excellent piece if software, and economical. (Version 1.5.6)

POIKKEUS In the newest version, there's been an unfortunate downgrade. Previously, one could save subtitled movies. Once saved, you could drop it onto your iTunes playlist for instant use on your iPod. Now, all subbed movies must be imported and converted - which takes more than two hours per movie to encode. For those of us who want to avoid the buggy Eigato hardware, this constitutes a downgrade. (Version 1.7)

DOUG S. This is a pretty good app. It tried it out not too long ago during my search for an option on how to deal with Matroskas. I wanted a way to put subs in a QuickTime friendly format. This was one option I looked at. In the end I didn't go with it though because the subtitles are hard-encoded. In other words when it exports the video it doesn't add a new layer to the mix, it makes it all one video. QuickTime supports subtitle files now, has for a little while, especially when embedded but not hard-encoded. That's why I don't give this a perfect rating. Yeah it's good on value, stability and easy of use. But one you add the subtitles you can't remove them again. For people like me who are looking for a way to have multiple audio and the option of subtitles in their MP4s and M4Vs, this doesn't do the trick. (Version 1.5)

SPACENOMAD This program is simply the best on the market . It is easy to use , fast and fun . What really makes it stand out so is the customer support . I had a problem with an srt file . I contacted customer support and received an answer within 2 hours . I was then told that it would be ok to send the srt file to them so they could have a look . Within another few hours i received a response back that the srt file had a lot of empty spaces . I thought that would be it BUT i also received the new beta of submerge that fixed the issue completely . NOW that is customer support , and all this was done in the time of less than ONE day .....AMAZING.If anybody is in need of a program like submerge i can only HIGHLY recommend it ..... Enjoy (Version 1.3)

COBRAHQ I had been searching for a way to merge my foreign films, and anime subtitles for months now... nothing was easy, and everything involved either running windows on my macbook pro or some long damn process. I found this app through some forum discussions after doing a google search... downloaded the demo, tried it once... bought it instantly. Simple to use and does a damn good job on the merge (with a good chunk of options). (Version 1.2.2)

DOUG S. Save it as a QuickTime Movie (MOV). That should do it. It might not matter but I was using H.264 video and M4A for audio. (Version 1.5.5)

CROP Yes, "save as a reference movie" or... as a self contained movie. Tick the right checkbox! :) (Version 1.5.5)

CROP You're wrong actually. Submerge DOES add the subs as a QuickTime layer (png) when using the "Save as" command... (Version 1.5.1)

DOUG S. Under the "Save As" dialogue box I assume it only saves as MOVs, correct? (Version 1.5.2)

JOBBY Can you tell us how you set that up? I've tried both the options in the Save As dialog, and I still get subtitles hard-burned into the movie, with no option to turn them off. About the best option I can see in there is to save as a reference movie, and then play the original for subtitle-free use, but that doesn't help when you just want to go back a few seconds and check a bit of dialogue you couldn't make out especially on the Apple TV :) (Version 1.5.5)

MR.JORCH Agree with other users, the best app to merge subtitles into movies for the mac platform. Even better, when you buy it, you get also the updates for free. (Version 1.5)
