DESCRIPTION

PTGui is panoramic photo stitching software. Originally developed as a Graphical User Interface for Panorama Tools (hence the name), PTGui now is a full featured photo stitching application.

Use PTGui to stitch any number of photos into a panoramic image. Some benefits of PTGui, when compared to other stitching software:

  • PTGui can stitch multiple rows of images
  • Create 360 degree cylindrical panoramas, 'flat' partial panoramas and even spherical 360x180 degree panoramas
  • No need to keep the camera level: PTGui can stitch rotated and tilted images

  • Redesigned memory management, resulting in significant performance improvements for larger stitching projects
  • Fix: Mac: performance bottlenecks on Snow Leopard
  • Fix: Mac: after closing the main window, opening a project by double clicking on the file name, or by dropping on the PTGui icon, did not work anymore
  • Fix: Batch builder ignored the 'Physically rotate images with EXIF Orientation tag' project setting
  • Fix: Add Images dialog did not show files with certain extensions
  • Fix: Mac: crash upon exit after the notification that a new version is available
  • Fix: Mac: optimizing using PanoTools would change the decimal separator used in PTGui to a point, on European systems where the comma is normally used as decimal separator

RICHCASTILLO  I'm a pro shooter and I've been using PTGui for at least a couple of years now. I'm very surprised that there are no reviews of it here, so I am going to pipe in. I love this app! I have seen it mature with many updates. This is a very powerful app with a huge amount of control. The interface is somewhat daunting but worth the effort. Originally, the app was a Graphical User Interface that ran the Panorama Tools engine (hence, the name PTGui) written by professor Helmut Dersch. It has since gained its own engine but can still use professor Dersch's engine.

To be fair, the stitching engine within Photoshop has also matured into a great tool and for many people will be entirely satisfactory without purchasing a 3rd party app such as PTGui. Photoshop's stitching interface works completely automatically and usually does a very good job. However, on the occasion when it doesn't work well, PTGui can get it done. PTGui is also my choice when creating a 180 or 360 degree VR.

Id' write more but I've got to get back to work and make some money.
