JPWGIBSON  Does anyone know how to uninstall this? I can't get it working on my iMac (Intel)

DARKFADER  This is a cool utility, better than the ones doing just color adjusting.

On my MacBook the backlight controls function as intented. But on my iMac the "Reduce to off" does not turn off the backlight but rather goes to lowest brightness.

I want to use this program in combination with Screen Sharing but any cursor movement turns on the display again, which I do not want.

TEKK-X  I always try to install this program again and again when the new version is released but it never worked for me. I'm using iMac Core Duo and when I "turn off" the display, it's OK but when I want it to wake up, it only blinks (fast changes between sleeping display and very dark display), so I have to turn computer into sleep by pressing the turn off button and immidietly restart the computer. If I don't do this, the monitor goes to sleep in about 30 seconds again and I have to again make it to sleep and so on. :-(

BRENDAN MCKINLEY  Works on my 12" PowerBook running 10.4.9.

However I can't seem to make LightMe install at login.

I have to manually launch LightMe and click Activate Monitor Shortcuts every time I login, even after repeatedly clicking the Install At Login button.

I tried tossing the pref file and reinstalling the preference pane to no avail.

I would love to have this app work, any advice would be much appreciated.

You can use Butler to map it to any key. Maybe in the future the author will allow it to run as a background process, and allow it's own key mapping ability (I'm trying to find ways to make butler obsolete because it makes my startup really slow :))

LASERDAN  After installing on my Core Dual iMac (running 10.4.9)and logging out and in again I find that it does switch my built-in LCD between the dimest and brightest settings, but does NOT turn off the LCD like it may do on a laptop.

The iMac screen has no built-in provision for turning off the back-light, it can only be dimmed. Putting the screen to sleep does turn off the back-light, but LightMe does not do this, and as far as I know, no utility does. Applescript can be made to turn off the back-light, but it takes at least a minute and is just a bit clunky. Anybody want to really try and make this work? I know a bunch of iMac users that would be greatful!
