DESCRIPTION

NTFS-3G for Mac OS X is a read-write (finally) NTFS file-system driver. This means we can finally write to memory sticks larger than 4GB (formatted with NTFS).

I have created a package similar to shadowofged's original NTFS-3G package, providing better integration with OS X such as automatic mounting of volumes. It is loosely based on the old shadowofged package, but the binary-only components have been replaced by my own GPL replacements.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.2506: Fix: In certain, rare circumstances, any area of the NTFS volume, except the NTFS boot sector, could get corrupted. The chance for this to happen is higher for close to full disk utilization and using one of the more uncommon, less than 4096 byte cluster sizes. The cluster size is logged under the /var/logs directory usually in the 'messages' or 'daemon.log' log file, as the blksize mount parameter. All stable releases have this issue since version 1.328. Upgrade is strongly recommended from all NTFS-3G releases. Full release notes available.
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4 or later, a PPC or Intel computer, MacFUSE 1.3 or later installed.

DRAW  I use a 8GB Samsung stick. After installation of NTFS-3G I reformatted the stick to "Windows NT Filesystem 3G" using Disk Utility.

But: Transfer of a 4.12 GB file needs about 1 hour.

USB2.0 MacMini 2Ghz Core2Duo.

Funny?  (Version 1.2310)

****.

NEONBLUE2  I used to have this installed back when I had Tiger but never reinstalled it when I upgraded to Leopard.

Well today a mate of mine came around with his virus ridden portable HDD, formatted as NTFS, that he wanted me to scan.

After I installed NTFS-3G I could no longer mount the drive. I knew you need to unmount on Windows correctly (a hassle) for it to work but what about the viruses?

We did it anyway and now I have full write access. Currently scanning with ClamXav and have so far seen one over sized ZIP file. There are more here somewhere.

I wish there was, perhaps, a visual interface like a Preference Pane so I could easily turn NTFS-3G off and on easily without having to fire up the COMMAND file. Not being able to mount some drives because they were unmounted incorrectly can be annoying.  (Version 1.1120)
