DESCRIPTION
First Age Angband, or FAangband is a roguelike game, a variant of Oangband (started by Leon Marrick, now maintained and developed by Bahman Rabii), which in turn is a variant of Angband. Changes have been made principally with the intent of immersing the player in the world of Tolkien's Silmarillion late in the First Age. While it is certainly not perfectly consistent (all the bad guys are still alive; all the good guys are dead, or at least have lost their best equipment), an attempt has been made to remove as many anachronisms as possible.

TICE  I wish I had known that this is just an ASCII game. I expected something else. A hint or screenshot would be nice.

FENRISULF  Google would help with this... Angband, indeed Roguelike games have been around for ages...

There are some that have graphics, if you're so inclined. It's worth a look, too, because this game is surprisingly fun, in spite of the ASCII-ness. :)

Don't decide not to play because it lacks the "eye-candy" of other games. The best pictures can be conjured in your mind.. :-)

NICKMCCONNELL  You should be able to request graphics from the Style menu...I think... You could try a few things and see if you can get graphics, because you should be able to. I didn't do this build, and don't even have a Mac to check it on, so any feedback is much appreciated.

NICKMCCONNELL  Sorry, that's the Appearance menu. There should be three choices of graphics tiles available.
