DIAMOND  Its open source some would say thats enough but not me.

Its better than APPLEs as its completely user configurable this includes the HIGH PROFILE options Quicktime 7 wont use with out it and options to limit how much resources it uses up. Even with these options its still quicker than Apples built in H264 encoder with better results due to the high profile options.

STARHAWK79  An absolute must have. Much better than Apple's built in h.264 encoder and works fantastic when exporting from Quicktime with programs like iMovie.

MYCOMETG3  First, I don't have Apple Compressor 3.5. I can not debug on it.

Second, Episode Desktop Version 5.2.1 (23234_20090703) does NOT support "Frame reordering" capability (My component's requirement).

Download Episode 5.2 beta from Telestream download page. I have tested using Beta Version as 5.2.1 (23243_20090706). Free Demo mode is enough to test.

1. Launch Episode Desktop 5.2.beta.

2. File-NewSetting...

3. At Output Tab: Video : Choose QuickTime

4. At Video Tab: QuickTime : Click QuickTime Movie Settings...

- Choose Compression Type : x264Encoder

- Set Limit data rate to : 1000 KBytes/sec for ex. (Multi Pass is recommended)

- Or Uncheck Limit data rate for CRF mode (Single Pass only)

- Check Frame reordering for B-Frame support

- Set Prefered Quality. Medium is enough for casual encoding.

- Click Options... and make settings as you like

5. File-Save... and name your prefered setting

Use this setting for Batch job export.

KEYMAN  Thanks for this great and best x264 encoder for mac.

It works well with Quicktime 7.6.3 on Snow Leopard 10.6.1

but, I got some trouble... I didn't find a way to setup some export settings for Apple Compressor 3.5 or Episode Pro 5...

I'm OK to use another Batch-Video-Exporter Software, but which one do you use ?

because you know, It's better to save codec settings, and batch export than Quicktime Player...

Thanks for any advice,

anyway thanks for your work, this new version with "settings tab" rocks !!

KEYMAN  For info :

in Compressor, I can add x264encoder in video codec,

but I can not access to the x264 options window…

and got this in my System.log :

"HIToolbox: ignoring exception '[ valueForUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key value.' that raised inside Carbon event dispatch"

(...and many more line here....)

Hope this help.

FORMICA  I have LOVED previous versions of this. But 1.0.3 keeps crashing all my video conversion apps! I haven't made it through a single conversion since this version came out (in all, maybe 11 attempts). Don't know enough to have any clue what's causing it on my 10.5.7 new MacBook.

ANONYMOUS  Would you please let me know details like:

- What applications do you use to encode video?

- Send me crash report via E-Mail.

- Remove plist file inside ~/Library/Preferences/com.MyCometG3.x264Encoder.plist

- Check if it does help.
