DESCRIPTION

IPSentinelStatus iis a menu bar item which displays and copies your machines IP addresses and name. Can optionally send email when the IP address changes, and display the external IP address in the menu itself.

Using the the system preference pane you can configure the program to deliver email notifications of changes of IP address

WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.1.2:

  • The display of the "address changed icon" in the menu title is now optional. It is off by default. Turn it on from the programs system preference pane.

  • Bug fix: the console log entries displaying all found IP addresses was not incrementing the index of each address.

Version 1.1.1:
  • When the title display is "icon only" the iconic image changes when the IP address changes.
  • Initial IP addresses are logged when the program launches.

MACNEWS  Bwanadik is free, has more features, and looks better; and, to top it all, hasn't been updated in ages and is *still* better!

DOOBIEXX  limit-point makes good software and I was hoping this would be as I thought but like the response below me, it merely picks up my internal ip and does not show external at all. If your looking for a program to display your external ip address in the menubar with automatic refresh and just a click to refresh it yourself I would check out the Free IPMenulet. It won't perform tasks such as emailing you when your external changes but it will show your external, and update itself before you even have the chance to refresh it most of the time. Never had a glitch w/ IPMenulet. I also never had a glitch w/ IPSentinel... it just wouldn't pick up my external over my network. Of course it could be an error on my part but this is my experience. Try both out, see which suits you best and go from there. limit-point is constantly updating which is nice, IPMenulet not as much but then again it doesn't need an update as it is quite a simple little bugger that does the trick.

DOOBIEXX  I'm commenting my own review hmmm, I know the developer responded to the post about the external not being visible and that it was fixed a few versions back but I for some reason still have the same problem. Other than that, if you want to be updated when your ip changes, buy limit-point's bundle if that's not needed, then check out the simpler freeware apps, but for the value, you can't beat this piece of software. I feel my original comment was a bit harsh but it didn't fit my needs, and I expressed that. Must be my router or something but when connected to other connections the developer was right, external can be displayed, and displayed correctly. Just not my network, or apparently the network of the guy who posted underneath me. Just wanted to clear that up and also let those who read the review to know that they should definitely check the app out along w/ the other recommended apps listed, out of the "notify upon ip change" apps. shareware or freeware ipsentinel is the best imo for notifications, hands down. I'm actually running this and ipmenulet, menulet when on my network and sentinel when I am out and about. LP packages are by far the most generous I have seen, and they actually give you useful apps.

STAR-AFFINITY  What about the external IP address?

Now I only see the local address I have...

JPPAGLIARO  This ability to see the external IP has been added to version 1.0.7. In that version the external IP address appears in the menu itself (as an option.)
