LauncherX is an expanded version of the familiar OS 9 launcher for OS X. Files and folders can be grouped into categories and a window with up to 16 launch buttons can be created for each category.
The number of categories is unlimited. Each launcher window has a different color. The category can be changed with a scroll bar. Alternatively, a list of categories can be displayed. Clicking the category name then opens the corresponding window.
The launch buttons show the name and icon of the file/folder.
Buttons can be easily created by dragging an icon into the launch window. It is easy to delete or rearrange buttons.
The application is freeware. It was built and tested for Mac OS 10.4.8 (Power PC or Universal). It will very likely work with OS 10.4.x and 10.3.x
Version 2.0: In addition to a face lift, the launcher can now be password protected. Furthermore, the user can select personal colors for the launchwindows. I thank Ann Perrone for these suggestions. Also, the launcher data can be backed up and (if necessary) retrieved.
Version 2.0 is compatible with data from earlier versions. If necessary, the old data file will be automatically renamed and moved to the new location when LauncherX 2.0 is first launched. The old file can be saved if desired for use with the older version.
