DESCRIPTION
MacCleanse securely scans your system for activity and erases the desired information.
Whether you've been gift shopping online, discussing confidential business matters, visiting inappropriate web sites, or just want to clean out your system, MacCleanse is your savior. Unlike some other privacy protection tools which go through your system with brute force, MacCleanse has been thoroughly tested and only removes the necessary files, and reports all errors.
MacCleanse also contains enhanced features for specific applications like Acquisition, Adium, AIM, aMSN, Azureus, Bit Torrent, Colloquy, FireFox 2 & 3, iCab, iChat, ICQ, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, MPlayer, MSN Messenger, Netscape, OmniWeb, Opera, Preview, QuickTime, Safari, Skype, Transmission, Unison, Xtorrent, and Yahoo Messenger. These enhanced features allow you to pick and choose what exactly to remove from the application - be it only auto-fill values from Safari or the recent download history in Xtorrent.

REALMAC17 Mac Cleanse is an impressive product which excels at what it does. At only $20 and with dozens of features, Mac Cleanse makes it easy to maintain OS X easily without any hassle whatsoever. What makes Mac Cleanse unique is that you can remove histories and logs from lots of different applications from Acquisition to iTunes to VLC. It also handles all the popular web browsers for clearing history and cache. I really liked the interface and the developer is very responsive and polite. 5/5! (Version 1.0.1)

THEBRIX2008 Having tried them all (literally!) MacCleanse is the easiest to use for day-to-day cleaning as, unlike Onyx, Cocktail or TinkerTool System, it has a one-pane interface. Open it, Command-E and that's it - no presses on tabs or buttons are required. The interaction can be made even slicker by removing prompts to restart Finder or to close the application when cleaning is done. It also appears to clean more options than (the totality of tabs on) these tools - it was still finding some logs, in particular, after combinations of them had been used. What it deliberately doesn't do is system, rather than application, cleaning and fixing (permissions, preferences, kernel caches, databases, DS_Store files etc.); any of those three applications will suffice. SWO I use this app regularly, though it is powerful and requires a bit of understanding of it's functions (which is why if I don't understand something, I leave it alone till I do or am feeling adventurous). Some of my concerns seem to have been address in this update, though I can't stand to look at the Mac Cleanse icon. Does anyone know if there are any alternative icons out there? It doesn't have to be for Mac Cleanse, per se, it just has to fit the app's purpose. (Version 1.1.3)

MACNEWS Very nicely done. I would, however, like to see the app, while idle, be reduced to using zero cpu cycles. (Version 1.0.7)

PERSON1229 It's a REALBasic application, this will never happen and is impossible for any REALBasic made application. (Version 1.0.8)

T7 Mac Cleanse is a very effective system cleaner as it is now, but it can be way more powerful. Absolutely worth 5 stars when it not only cleanses regular Finder/System stuff but Path Finder/System stuff as well. It should also gain scriptability features and a daemon mode so it can do its cleansing business at three in the morning, or before every system restart. Plus: Mac Cleanse should let you add folder/files of your own choosing. (Version 1.0.3)
