ETNIER  As it stands, this app records compressed video using the YUV422 codec.

A shame that development stopped on this app: developer promises a fully-functional version in 'weeks' but it never came. There's a very tempting range of recording options made available in this version, (including uncompressed video) but none of the options work.

XOUDEL  To the Developer

I love this program. One of my best friends has it on his IPhone. He can record conversations, phone calls.. all on his phone and keep a digital log. It actually helped him get the BMW rep to buy back his One series - thanks to his taped records.

Unfortunately, I do not have an IPHONE. I have a two year contract with Sprint. Please make this software available for the Samsung Instinct. If u do that, I will be more than happy to donate $25. And Im sure other Samsung Instinct users would do the same.

This is the developer of iRecord. I have heard from many people that they would like to see compression functionality added to the software so that they can record files for transmittion by email, etc. I have decided to incorporate this functionality into the next version of iRecord, and I have created a dummy interface that shows the features that will be added.

HYP  Thanks for this very nice app.

But I have two little problems with it;

- when i launch the app it always says me i don't have any webcam plugged (but it works, i just have to click OK).

- when i stop my recording, my movie is opened with Classic instead of the Tiger version of QT.

SCOTTYBUCKETS  I agree with the other post... The movies open as fullscreen clips.. it should default as the actual size or at least add preferences to the menu in order for the user to choose the size, etc. otherwise its a great tool!

MACMODELA  Downloaded, unzipped, and launched. Hit "record button" and it did. Stopped the recording after about 5 seconds.

iRecord then saved the test movie to Desktop, and opened QuickTime automatically. Played the movie.

Video and audio are great (iSight webcam). Since the product is a QT movie, it can be edited in iMovie.

Not much of a test, but I see no reason why this app could not produce an hour-long QT movie. The only limitation would be due to the iSight unit.

If your webcam is not internal to your Mac, you can even record monitor screen activity, allowing you to give a tutorial on using an app, or using Disk Utility, etc., burn it on a DVD, and send it to a computer-illiterate Aunt Emma.

iRecord does exactly what it is supposed to do, and is super-simple to use.
