MACSOLU  Well, they play, but not "perfectly." My 1080i video from my Sanyo is slow and stuttered. But this is a step in the right direction. I really hope Apple steps up and fixes QuickTime -- version 1.6.1 of QT apparently had the capability to decode and play this type of video, but later versions of QT cannot.

MACSOLU  Should this be used instead of Perian and Flip4Mac or in addition to those two Sys.Preferences?

    MYCOMETG3  avc1Decoder 0.6.7 is safe.

Some apps like Toast and mp4vDecoder has some compatibility issue same as Perian 1.0.

MYCOMETG3  I have confirmed Toast 8.0.3 now compatible with mp4vDecoder.

And, avc1Decoder also does not have any issue with Toast 8.0.3. Please Update if you can.

BUCHO  No chance of adding subtitle support (to this or the mpv4decoder) is there? Perian is delaying their release until December, so other options would be nice...

In any case, great work (encoders too)!

MYCOMETG3  avc1Decoder runs on H.264 media only under mov and mp4 file. It also has postprocessing filter and color adjustment feature.

Perian runs many media type, but does not have postprocessing filter nor color adjustment.

    You can install both.

    GUILLAUMEK  Hi,

    a simple question

Is this better than Perian? Isn't it basically the same decoder?

MAC ADAM  Perian is not for h264…

avc decodec allow read all h264 and mp4 what integer apple decodec not do (b frames, 8x8, etc…).

ps: if you try avc.decodec, no need mp4.decodec, avc.decodec decode mp4 and h264…

    MYCOMETG3  MPEG-4 AVC does not include MPEG-4 ASP/SP.

AVC is called as "H.264". ASP or SP are generally called as "MPEG-4".

avc1Decoder just handles H.264 media only.

    mp4vDecoder handles ASP/SP media only.
