DESCRIPTION
MailRecent Mail Plugin adds "Copy to Recent," "Move to Recent," and "Go to Recent" menu items to Apple's Mail application.

These menu items contain dynamically-updated lists of recently used mailboxes. The number of mailboxes kept in the list is determined by the "Number of Recent Items" setting for Documents in the Appearance panel of the OS X System Preferences.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.2.1:
  • Updated for Mac OS X 10.6.2 and Mail 4.2.
  • Added Dutch localization. (Thanks to Ruud Kalberg!)
REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.6 or later (Apple Mail 4.1 or later). Older versions available.

MACCONVERT  I have been looking for something like this I switched from Windows to the Mac. Outlook remembers the last 10 mailboxes that you copied or moved to whereas Mac Mail only remembers the last one. This app adds that capability to Mail. I have been using it since version 1.0 on a Macbook Pro with no problems at all. This solved a major annoyance for me. Thanks to the developer.

SJK  This plugin has already made it easier to work with "too many" mailboxes in combination with Mail Act-On, much like described in the Background section on the developer site. Thanks, Greg! One improvement would be to include the extended name for a duplicate mailbox in the menu even when only a single instance of it occurs. It's easy to forget exactly which duplicate mailbox a single instance is, especially between Mail sessions.

I'd also like a way to optionally invoke "Copy/Move to Recent" followed by "Go to Recent" for the specified mailbox.

And I can imagine how a certain merging of this with the MsgFiler plugin might improve mouseless operation.

SCHMELDING  I wasn't able to move emails from my Inbox into any mailboxes. I trashed MailRecent and restarted Mail. Works fine now. :(

GREGWELCH  (from the developer)

This sounds like it could be a known issue, which is addressed on the plugin page. Please make sure the "Number of Recent Items" setting for Documents in the Appearance panel of the OS X System Preferences is NOT set to "None." It should be set to 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, or 50. Otherwise normal copys and moves will not function properly. (Setting it to "None" does not make sense if you are going to use the plugin, but it should not break moves/copies. This will be fixed in the next release.)

I hope this fixes your problem. If not, and you still want to use the plugin, please contact me directly (welch@cs.unc.edu) so I can look into it with you.

Version 1.0.1 has a bug fix that might address this problem. I hope! (The description of the user's problem sounded like the problem the 1.0.1 fix addressed.)

FMAIER  Seems to have broke may Mail.aap.

Mail 2.1 (752/752.2) - 10.4.8 up to date per Software update.

I quit mail and installed this program. When I reopened mail there was no Viewer Window open. Opened new viewer window and new menu items are not there.

Now mail won't quit - no response to quit command. I have to go to Activity Mon and force quit. Mail still seems to work.

I removed the Mailrecent.mailbundle that this installed in ~Library>Mail>Bundles and mail still won't quit without a force.

Any idea on what's wrong?
