DESCRIPTION
MU.LAB (formerly known as LUNA) is an alternative, state of the art software that transforms your computer into a rich virtual music studio!

It does not overwhelm you with a complex feature set, in which you can get lost.

On the contrary, MU.LAB is a user-friendly yet rock-solid musical tool designed to create, finetune and play Your Music!

MU.LAB's core feature set:

  • Audio Recording & Playback
  • MIDI Recording & Playback
  • Flexible Composition & Sequence Editing
  • Supports Audio and MIDI VST Plugins
  • Powerful Audio and MIDI Plugin Routing (up to 100% modular if you want)
  • Integrated high quality synths, samplers and effects
  • High quality Audio Engine
  • Sample Accurate Sequencing
  • Available for OSX (Universal Binary) and Windows

MU.LAB comes in 2 flavors: MU.LAB Free and MU.LAB Unlimited.

MU.LAB Free (which is free to everyone!) has a 6 track limit and can only mixdown in 16 Bit. But be sure: a creative soul can do A LOT with that!

MU.LAB Unlimited on the other hand can do unlimited tracks and can also mixdown in 32 Bit for more extensive musical productions!

WHAT'S NEW
Version 2.6.4:
  • Tuned: "Save Session" does not prompt to overwrite anymore
  • Fixed: Problem with exporting MIDI files when there are empty/muted/audio-only tracks
  • Fixed: When exporting MIDI files, proper MIDI channels are used

EINGEBILDET  Check out the KVR forum for Mutools - there are a lot of very useful tips there on interfacing LUNA with other music-making software, and the developers are constantly posting and fielding suggestions to make LUNA better. Just go to www.mutools.com/support for links.

LAINE  It irritates me that the kvraudio forums require you to log in to search. Do you know if Luna Free supports tempo changes in a sequence (a substantial drawback for Garageband, IMO)? Thanks.

EINGEBILDET  I'm sorry - can't help you much on that. I've never tried to do tempo changes within a sequence, but given what I know of LUNA's interface, tempo is set globally. I too am annoyed at the way KVR requires an account, but on the up-side, it's a pretty basic amount of info they ask for. It was worth it to me to register.

RYANJ  Even though I currently use purchased sequencers such as Live and ProTools I think it's great that a company is offering even a limited version for free. My only request for the free version would be to add rewire even in a stereo form. Prior to owning my current software i looked around endlessly for a free app that can do what luna does + rewire.
