DESCRIPTION
Graphic Inspector provides extensive info about both raster and vector graphic files and helps locate potential problems according to user-defined settings.

The program will go through folders of files and display info about the following attributes:

  • kind
  • size
  • color mode
  • resolution
  • color profile
  • dimensions
  • spot colors
  • fonts in vector files
  • spot colors in bitmap and vector files
  • EXIF data
  • file type and creator

The highly customizable Checkup Presets will let you quickly spot files with unwanted attributes saving you hours of checking your documents manually and dealing with consequences of costly mistakes. For example, you can make Graphic Inspector warn you about all files whose color mode is RGB, format - JPEG, resolution is below 200 dpi, ICC profile doesn't contain "USWebCoated" etc.

Beta-testers who provided feedback can receive a free copy of Graphic Inspector (see the beta Read Me file for details).

    *****

MUSI  Excellent software. I bought this immediately after trying the demo. I never bought a preflight app ($$$) but used one years ago at the company I worked for, so I was really happy to see this app here (actually it happened to be the daily special)! I always checked my files manually, which took time. It so happened that I was finishing up a job at the time of this purchase so I got to really use it, in addition to testing it out on other things.

This program is extremely stable, and for a 1.0 release, is well-thought out in its design and inclusion of features. You can make presets for the different job types you want to check, such as print work, web, etc. Because the presets are so very customizable and flexible, I was very happy to see I can even make presets for different print house or service bureau requirements; i.e. some print shops don't want any profile embedded, whereas another one requires their profile embedded, etc. These requirements can be easily setup as presets specifically for each of these companies. You can set it up either as "Does contain xx" or "Does not contain xx", whichever you like better. Very nice.

It even deals with EXIF info too.

When it flags, it also tells you what the problem is with the file, such as it being a RGB, JPEG, wrong resolution, etc. even though you can also see the problem just by looking at the list fields. When you click on a flagged item, down below in a field is the problem(s) written in red.

Another great thing is that the results don't just stop there—by clicking on the item, not only does it tell you the problem, but you can either reveal its location in the finder, or open the original for editing.

If you are in the market for a preflight/inspector, look no further—really. This company has done an excellent job and the price is an added bonus (thank you developer!). Easy to use; very low or non-existent learning curve.
