WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.3.6:Changes:

• SCC closed caption:
Added import and export of standard closed caption 2/3/4 line roll-up modes for news casts. Please note: Use single line subtitles for roll-up, the lines will be combined on-screen according to the selected mode. QuickTime 7.5 now allows to view closed captions in the web browser, so roll-up mode will be appreciated.
Added "Double Control" option for analogue broadcast encoders.
Export to QuickTime movies with closed captions still requires the ClosedCaptionImporter.component.
• Added Softel Swift Standard Interchange File import (supports alignment, vertical position, italic style for Swift open subtitles).
• Added Softel Swift Standard Interchange File export (supports alignment, vertical position, italic style for Swift open subtitles).
• Added Lemony 3.1 project file import: multiple tracks, text, time-code, author, track-title.
• Belle Nuit Subtitler import: italic style, horizontal alignment.
• Changed "New Entry" toolbar action to try to insert a new entry after the current selection. Auto-validation is applied. If no selection is found, the new entry will be added at the end of the list, just like before.
• Removed overlap warning in spotting window. New overlaps are corrected instantly.
To conveniently check imported files, you should use the table view instead.
• Fixes:
Fixed an error in toolbar split text action.
Processing drawer: Set track offset attribute button is functional again.
German localization (tool tips, subtitle list).
Removed overlay if no movie attached.
Several polishes and performance enhancements.
• Known issues:
Documents recovered from auto-save should be saved regularly before work.
Waveform creation might be slower with QuickTime 7.5 for certain codecs.

REQUIREMENTS
Mac OS X 10.4.5 or later.

TOURNESOL  Excellent application, and the support is more than great. The best subtitle application for the Mac no doubt!  (Version 1.3)

TOURNESOL  Works rather well, but using the blu-ray beta plugin with DVD Studio pro STL (spruce) subtitles does not convert the < > tags for italic formatting into something useful, but instead puts the <> tags in the png files, and that is not very good. Please fix.  (Version 1.2.2.12)

D-MAC  Functionality and import/export options are quite good.

However, the GUI design (or lack thereof) makes this application difficult to use and requires multiple repetitive steps to do simple tasks. The interface has many inconsistencies, controls/icons that are cluttered and too small, and a lack of overall consistency and usability.

If the (one-person shop) developer would consult a good GUI designer, and observe actual user workflow, then overhaul the interface, this application could become the top tool of its kind.

For efficient entry of subtitle or caption text, there are many better choices under US$100.

Additionally, there is no user manual, on-line help, or video tutorials (or other training). When feedback is given to the developer, he reacts quite defensively and does seem to appreciate or respect user input. All this for an application that costs nearly US$400.  (Version 1.2.2.10)
