DESCRIPTION
RaidEye is a tool for monitoring software RAID sets. When they fails, RaidEye warns you with an alert sound and email. RaidEye can be set to start automatically the monitor & alert system when launched. Useful when used as a login item, prevents you from loosing control of RAID volumes if the system reboots without being noticed. Mac OS X comes with an easy way to create RAID volumes (mirrored or striped), but has not a good way to manage and control their integrity and to give feedbacks and alerts to sysadmin. RaidEye is easy: just set up email settings and start the monitor. If a RAID error occurs then RaidEye will start playing an alert sound and will send an email with a detailed report of the RAID status. You can start the monitor automatically. You have also the option to try to rebuild damaged mirrored RAID sets or to add new members to existing sets. RaidEye is a frontend for the shell tool "diskutil". RaidEye is a freeware and open-source Universal Binary Cocoa-Applescript Application, released under the terms of the GPL license. This tool comes without any warranty. Use at your own risk. Tested successfully on Mac OS X 10.4.8 Intel and PowerPC. This version of RaidEye makes use of "SendEmail" perl script; thanks to Brandon Zehm. How-to and testing examples are documented inside the application. Source code available at my website.
