DESCRIPTION
PulpMotion lets you create animations from your own pictures, videos and music. You simply drag and drop them into a visual theme, add music and export them. You can then send video postcards to friends by email, or podcast your video animation using GarageBand, copy your animation to your iPod or even upload it to your web page using Forklift or RapidWeaver. You can even export your animations for further editing in iMovie or Final Cut.

Part of what makes PulpMotion so useful is that you can spend 3-minutes dragging your videos and photos into themes, and the end product is an eye catching, professional production. It's all done for you.

Some custom themes included are:

  • Wedding themes
  • Valentines day
  • Christmas
  • News broadcasting
  • Newspaper articles
  • Antique picture frames
  • 3D Slideshows
  • Kids and crayons
  • and way more!
Be sure to check out the PulpMotion video so you can see how it works and get an idea of some of the great themes included.

FARIBORZ  The same here. I also applied for a new code and received it within a minute but it didn't work although it was completely different from my original serial number. I wrote to the customer service and was told that there's an upgrade fee to pay. It's strange that one has to go through a new activition system that at the end offers a code that doesn't function! UMIJIN  I have the same problem, but customer support did not respond to me. There shouldn't be a paid upgrade - the site clearly states (or at least did) that the product offered free product to owners of previous versions.

UMIJIN  First, the support staff contacted me (10 days after), but his explanation was a bit vague . He stated that the serial number only worked with v1.62, and that if I wanted a license for v.2 I it was available on their store link (which isn't currently working). I'm annoyed that he didn't say directly that I would need to purchase an upgrade and how much it would cost.

Second, the download page which MU linked to uses vague wording (at this time) and doesn't clearly say version 1 users need to purchase the version 2 upgrade. It says this:

"If you bought software with us, this is where you can always find the latest version: simply use the Serial Number that came with your purchase to unlock the downloaded product."

This seems to suggest that any serial number will work with the latest version of the app. Nowhere I can find is there a clear statement, "Version 1.x license owners need to purchase an upgrade for a license to version 2.X".

I'd gladly pay an upgrade to any app that is useful, but unclear upgrade policies are annoying.

JEFF H.  Very nice software...

Although one thing keeps happening that's driving me nuts! No matter what I write/don't write, check/uncheck as far as the "Title/Story, it ALWAYS says "Untitled, A virtual tour of your digital life"...WTF?

MACLOWRES  a simple workaround for that, is to type a space (' ') as your title/story. If you leave the field empty, it does not always recognizes it and writes the default title

sorry about that

BRIANY  I'm very pleased with this slideshow generating program. The one thing it lacks (but will likely be available in an upcoming Pro version) is the ability to use more than one audio track. I think this program alone was worth the recent bundle price given its ease of use and creative theme library. I look forward to using this program often

REELSTUFF  I have tried the full version and I am impressed, it is a nice little application and has some serious promise for the future, I would love to see a more open environment like you see with the RW model, I believe you would see some serious growth.

Nice App, if you are on the fence about getting the bundle there are two apps in the bundle that are worth much more than the small amount they are charging.

RW and Pulp Motion, definitely a keeper.

MACLOWRES  hello

an open environment has been on our list for a while...but since we kept tweaking the themes infrastructure, it was really difficult to do.

We are finishing PulpMotion v2 and have developped a dedicated tool to build new themes. It's very powerful and will be released shortly after the v2

REELSTUFF  I tried the Demo, and was confused with regard to much of the way the program works, not sure if this is all related to the black background and trial clip that loads over everything so you cant really see what it is you are getting.

I am on the fence with this one, I was really interested in the application, and I wish I could see what I would have once unlocked, it looks interesting but seems to stop somewhat short of the impression received when viewing the sample video and then attempting to use the demo.

Perhaps I missed something or maybe it is just the trial that blocks out everything so you can see nothing, that makes me wonder about what is not seen in the demo.

I think I will have to wait and see if there are further reviews to see if this will be something I would want.

AQUAFADAS  Hello

I am not sure I understand your issues here...I agree the black screen can be confusing and this has been fixed in the 1.5 release.

basically, PulpMotion is an authoring tool. Try this:

1; Use the media panel on the right to navigate to pictures and videos. Select some media and drop it into the drop zone (bottom)

2. Hit the play button...you will see your composition playing using the current theme

3. Pick up another theme (bar on top) and explore

4. Fine tune by adding titles, changing parameters, etc..

5. export to share

REELSTUFF  Thank you for responding, I have purchased the full version and can say that it does perform nicely.

It is definitely worth while, is it perfect no what software is perfect, but it is impressive, my earlier comments were because I could not properly evaluate the application because of the overly aggressive nag screen, good to hear that has been fixed.

Looking forward to working with this software in the future, if your sitting on the fence wondering if the application is worth it, it definitely is a great tool to work with, and will only get better with age.

AQUAFADAS  Thanks

We are definitely interested by feedback such as the one above. In 1.5, we decided to position the playhead right after the intro...this way, you never get a black screen, but always the first frame after the intro. So you understand that the application is actually doing something with your images, before you decide to hit the play button.

The changes in ergonomics are quite numerous, and performance gets a real boost too. We are looking forward to put PulpMotion 1.5 out as beta soon.

CHRISWAN  I played for a while with PulpMotion, now I know why it is the 'ultimate' locked app in current MacUpdate Bundle

It blows away other featured 'locked' apps, decently priced, yet allow us to install on 2 computers

AQUAFADAS  hi

We had a number of people contacting us with regard to this...it seems that one reason for that crash is when a previous version of PulpMotion has been lying around. So please do the following:

- download the full app from our site (don't run the automatic update)

- go to the /Users/Shared and delete the AFPulpMotionFramework folder in there

- empty your trash

- start over again

hope this helps. Always try to contact us using our support email...we reply promptly

CHRIS REED  Excellent app.

I did work with a school recently. The young people photographed school life for an achive and then tried various themes and viewed result to see if it reflected what they were wanting to expressed. The whole thing worked like a dream on a macbook and with a minimum of fuss they customised the slideshow and showed the result to astonished staff and parents to cries of... "You made that. Wow...' etc
