DESCRIPTION

NoteMind helps you to collect and to organize informations centrally in one single place. It learns the way you organize your documents, and automatically tries to find a matching folder for new informations. You will be able to display your collected documents as a mind map, and modify them in any way you like.

Your personal database NoteMind enables you to manage many kinds of information, may it be a search result for a special subject, or even your shopping list. For whatever kind of information, NoteMind will help you to manage and to archive it in a neat and easy way. You can paste text documents, pictures, PDF's or web links, and store them everlasting in your NoteMind-Database, where you always have them ready to hand.

Mind Maps NoteMind automatically creates mind maps of your folder tree within the program. This will give you the best overview of all your collected documents. Mind maps can be edited within an external layout software, and comments and annotations can be added.

Collecting informations NoteMind assists you in compiling informations. Did you find a relevant text section in the internet, or another application? Simply mark it and hit Cmd-* (use Shift, if you have a notebook keyboard). NoteMind automatically copies the selection into it's database. If you wish, NoteMind even tries to find the best matching folder for the selected text. This function is available after the machine has been restarted, because Mac OS X needs to update the service menu.

Always ready to hand Drag a NoteMind window to any border of your display. It will transform into a docked window, which automatically minimizes, if NoteMind is no longer in the foreground. This will help you to keep your notes and To-Do-Lists in reach, without wasting desktop space.

Latest technology NoteMind uses Apple CoreData to store your informations. All data, including pictures and web links are stored within a single file, that can be exchanged with other users. Moreover, NoteMind makes use of Mac OS X 10.4 Spotlight, to find documents with similar content on your hard drive.

Similarity check While you work in NoteMind, all your documents will be indexed in background. This enables NoteMind to find similar content within NoteMind itself, on your hard drive, or even online in the world wide web. The search for similar content will be displayed in the main window, and therefore is always in your focus.

DOOBIEXX  Love notemind, I have two products from this dev, notemind and cleanapp. Synium makes great software and updates are very common even though they have 6-8 big shareware projects going on. Updates are necessary, if a dev wants my money.

One thing about notemind I don't like is no hotkey for entering text in whatever template/form... guess unsanity comes in here... Otherwise, best mindmap application out and I have licenses to a few $100+ which try to do what nm does so simply. Of course those expensive mindmap apps can become confusing for one and lots more work to accomplish same goal.

Oh yeah, takes up WAY too much ram.

MACSTERDAM  I really love the way this application works. It has a great balance between look and workflow. For me, however, it has two shortcommings, which render is useless for me (for now that is!)

1) it use an insane amount of ram if you use and leave it open for a long time.

2) it still can't capture or import webarchives.

Other than that, it's really nice and has a very useful feature-set.

RONALDJOHN  I am increasing my previous review score following the developer's release of his newest version that addresses the more serious issues by migrating to an improved data base. I would not hesitate to encourage anyone/everyone to try the product and see how it can facilitate you. The program has a very unique feature set but also lacks much in the way of documentation or examples so you just have to try it and see how NoteMind can faciltate your work flow.

RONALDJOHN  Although I've been a registered owner of this software for a number of months I find myself shunning it due to it's perplexing contradictory nature. To their credit the developers venture beyond traditional boundaries, creating a unique experience with intriguing possibilities - a snippet manager that instantly turns notes into beautiful and useful graphic schematics as an example. Very nice but the sophistication is belied by omitted or non-functioning standard features found on nearly all software, examples: until only recently NoteMind lacked an auto save which is critical for a snippet manager. My NoteMind file is only 7 megabytes yet it takes nearly two minutes to launch and/or save. TWO MINUTES! The crashing problems associated with open folders still persists in spite of reports to the contrary. Apple's font dialog opens as expected yet has no effect on the text it should be changing. I don't want to paint an overly pessimistic report because the program, should it ever reach its potential, would be very useful and I would like to see that happen but until it does I would only recommend Notemind for hobbyists. if you are a professional that needs software that facilitates rather than distracts you would be better served with another solution. I have no way of knowing if these are neophyte programmers but the experience feels that way.

TFINDLAY  I have registered NoteMind and downloaded every update but it is still crashing when collapsing expanded folders. For this reason it is still unusable for me. I hope the developers can resolve this issue at some point because I like the overall concept and design of NoteMind.

MJEDI  This is fast becoming my most used app for storing info. The dev is open to feature requests and I love the docking feature. There are still a few more features before I can officially dump DevonThink Pro, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Great job!

CA  I like the way this app is worked on. With v. 1.1 I couldn't delete a PDF file normally, this is now fixed. Well done.

Of course, there are still a few hiccups here and there but I don't want to niggle :)

All my emails have been quickly responded to (and I'm not even a registered user—yet). Recommended!

MACSTERDAM  I'm a long-time DevonThink Pro user who, because DTP lacks Spotlight integration, is looking for an alternative. I accidentally came across this and upon first trying this I was immediately impressed. As CA already mentioned, for a 1.0 release, this is brilliant, seriously brilliant in fact. And the developer is very, very responsive too.

Comparing NoteMind to DTP on just features, DTP wins hands down, easily too. However, judging NoteMind on usability and looks/interface, it's off to a flying start. It's a pleasure to use, and with just a few extra's, I can switch from DTP to NoteMind full-time. Judging by how the developer responds to feature-requests, I feel this shouldn't take long.

Excellent work, thank you!
